Powersports Parts, Service and Inventory Specialist

Job Description

We are opening a new powersports location in Sylacauga and are looking for a highly motivated, organized individual who can take ownership of several key areas of the dealership. This is not a traditional shipping and receiving position. This role combines Parts & Accessories Sales, Shipping & Receiving, Inventory Control, and Service Writing into one important position. You will work directly with customers while also helping ensure that parts, inventory, and service operations run accurately and efficiently behind the scenes. We are looking for someone who can learn quickly, stay organized when things get busy, communicate professionally with customers, and take responsibility for getting the job done correctly. Powersports experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong automotive parts, service advisor, dealership, equipment, or similar experience. Primary Responsibilities Parts, Accessories & Gear Sales  Assist customers at the counter and over the phone with parts, accessories, apparel, and riding gear.  Accurately identify parts using electronic parts catalogs and dealership systems.  Ask the right questions to determine exactly what the customer needs.  Recommend related parts, accessories, maintenance items, and upgrades.  Provide accurate pricing and availability.  Handle special orders and customer deposits/payments.  Follow up with customers regarding ordered parts and availability.  Maintain strong product knowledge and continuously learn new products.  Work toward established sales, gross-profit, and customer-service goals. Shipping, Receiving & Inventory  Receive daily OEM and aftermarket parts shipments.  Verify shipments against invoices and purchase orders.  Identify shortages, damaged merchandise, incorrect parts, and pricing discrepancies.  Properly process superseded and backordered parts.  Stock merchandise accurately in assigned inventory locations.  Process customer special orders.  Prepare outgoing shipments and returns.  Maintain accurate inventory records.  Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.  Help prevent inventory discrepancies, lost merchandise, and unprocessed parts.  Maintain an organized and efficient parts and receiving area. Service Writing / Customer Intake  Greet service customers and determine their needs.  Create accurate repair orders and document customer concerns clearly.  Gather necessary vehicle information, including year, make, model, mileage/hours, and VIN when required.  Communicate repair estimates, recommendations, and expected timelines.  Obtain customer authorization for repairs and additional work.  Communicate between customers, technicians, parts personnel, and management.  Keep customers updated on the status of their vehicles.  Contact customers when repairs are completed.  Assist with scheduling service appointments and managing workflow.  Help identify additional maintenance and repair opportunities based on manufacturer recommendations and vehicle condition. What We're Looking For The right person for this position will be:  Dependable and punctual.  Comfortable working directly with customers.  Organized and detail-oriented.  Able to handle multiple responsibilities without losing track of priorities.  Comfortable using computers and learning dealership software.  Mechanically inclined with the ability to understand parts and basic vehicle systems.  Comfortable selling and making recommendations to customers.  Able to communicate professionally in person and over the phone.  Willing to take ownership instead of waiting to be told what needs to happen next.  Able to work effectively in a fast-paced dealership environment.  Interested in motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, personal watercraft, or powersports in general. Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is a plus:  Powersports dealerships  Automotive dealerships  Parts departments  Service advising/service writing  Parts counter sales  Shipping and receiving  Inventory management  Motorcycle, ATV, UTV, marine, automotive, or equipment repair Powersports dealership experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate. Physical Requirements This position includes both customer-facing and warehouse responsibilities.
Candidates must be able to:
 Stand and walk for extended periods.  Regularly lift and move parts and merchandise.  Receive and stock shipments.  Work around motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, and other powersports equipment.  Maintain a clean and organized work area. Compensation $15.00-$20.00 per hour depending on experience and demonstrated ability. Performance-based bonus opportunities may also be available based on individual and department results. This position has significant responsibility, and compensation will reflect the experience and capability of the person selected. Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
