Job Description

Summary The Inventory Management Specialist located within the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy - Leavenworth and is responsible for inventory management and purchase of expendable and non-expendable supplies in the assigned CMOP . Responsibilities Duties may include but are not limited to: Manages and controls assigned class of expendable material for a CMOP location. Recognized as an authority on expendable (EX) and non-expendable (NX) commodity management and serves as a point of contact to all service lines. Acts as a point of contact for coordination of commodity support and resolution supply problems across departments. Makes decisions and commitments for the CMOP on pharmaceutical, medical/surgical, and other supplies. Conducts quantitative analysis of historical usage patterns for opportunities for potential cost savings, efficiencies, and process improvements. Utilizes performance measures to conduct forecasting and quantitative analysis. Contributes to the development of standard operating procedures. Contributes to short, mid, and long term advanced planning for expendable items. Analyzes data to include demand history, program requirements, operations, procurement lead-time, current stock levels, and other factors that impact procurement decisions. Uses a wide range of well-established and commonly applied inventory principles, standard and nonstandard methodologies, and concepts to determine need to intervene in the supply system. Performs analytical work to manage, regulate, coordinate, or otherwise exercise control over EX and NX supplies. Participates in federal and agency return and reutilization of medical supplies program activities. Coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies in accordance with specific agency directives and procedures.
Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
