Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for an Inventory Control Specialist for a client company located in Laurel MD. This would be a temp to hire position.

Distribution Manager Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring efficient inventory management processes. This role involves a combination of data analysis, physical inventory counts, and collaboration with various departments to optimize stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and support overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Accuracy:
Conduct regular physical inventory counts (cycle counting) and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records. Investigate and resolve root causes of inventory variances.
Data Management:
Utilize and update the company's Inventory Management System (WEBUI / TWL) to track inventory movements, including receipts, transfers, and shipments. Ensure all data entries are accurate and timely.
Process Improvement:
Identify and propose improvements to inventory control procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize warehouse flow. Assist in the implementation of new inventory control policies and systems.
Reporting and Analysis:
Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, forecast needs, and provide insights into stock levels, turnover rates, and potential obsolescence.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the warehouse, purchasing, sales, and logistics teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment, product returns, and material availability.
Quality Control:
Inspect incoming and outgoing products for quality and quantity, ensuring they meet company standards and are correctly documented.
Problem Solving:
Address and resolve inventory-related issues, such as misplaced items, damaged goods, or system errors, in a timely and effective manner.
Compliance:
Ensure all inventory procedures and practices comply with company policies and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field is a plus.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in an inventory control, warehouse, or a similar role.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency with Inventory Management Systems (e.g., Infor Sx.e, TWL, or other ERP/WMS software). o Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis). o Experience with barcode scanners and other inventory tracking technology.
Soft Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. o Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. o Effective communication and interpersonal skills. o Ability to work independently and as part of a team. o Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds for extended periods.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as a pallet jack (if applicable).
Ability to work in a warehouse environment which may include varying temperatures.
