Inventory / Operations Position Summary Piedmont Metals is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to support inventory accuracy and material flow at our Tucker Processing Facility in Burlington, NC , as well as designated off-site storage locations. The ideal candidate has experience managing inventory in a manufacturing, fabrication, steel, or industrial environment and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization. This position will work closely with Procurement, Operations, Production, and Shipping & Receiving to ensure materials are accurately tracked, available when needed, and properly documented. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate inventory levels for raw materials at the Tucker Processing Facility and designated off-site storage locations. Monitor inventory transactions to ensure system accuracy and timely updates. Coordinate receipt of raw materials from vendors, verifying quantities, specifications, and documentation. Work closely with Procurement to monitor inventory levels and support replenishment planning. Coordinate material releases and material pulling activities to support production schedules. Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits. Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Maintain organized storage locations and ensure materials are properly identified and traceable. Generate inventory reports and provide recommendations to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency. Collaborate with Operations and Production to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management, warehouse organization, and material flow. Perform other inventory and material control duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years of inventory control experience in manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, or warehouse operations. Experience using inventory management or ERP systems. Strong understanding of inventory control principles, receiving processes, and material transactions. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred:

Experience in steel, metals, construction materials, or manufacturing. Experience with manufacturing inventory systems or ERP platforms. Knowledge of material handling and warehouse operations. Experience with cycle counting and physical inventory audits. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Skills & Abilities High level of accuracy with inventory data entry and transactions. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements Ability to walk throughout warehouse and production areas for extended periods. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach as needed. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds . Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, trucks, and other industrial equipment. Ability to travel locally between designated storage and Piedmont Metals locations as needed.
