Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring materials are properly received, stored, tracked, and issued, and supporting efficient material flow throughout the manufacturing operation. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and adherence to established inventory and material-control procedures. This position is a hands-on warehouse position in a manufacturing environment. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment as well as working around inventory, raw materials, equipment, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate inventory quantities and locations within the inventory management/ERP system.
  • Receive, inspect, identify, label, and properly store incoming materials.
  • Verify materials against purchase orders, packing lists, and receiving documentation.
  • Issue materials to production according to established procedures.
  • Ensure all material movements are properly documented and entered the system.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts.
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure materials are stored in the correctly designated locations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, excess inventory, or discrepancies to Purchasing and/or Management.
  • Follow established procedures for material transfers, returns, scrap, and adjustments.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized, clean, and safe warehouse and inventory area.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Quality, and other departments to ensure material availability.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for traceability and inventory control.
  • Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and inventory-control procedures.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring materials are not removed, transferred, or used without proper authorization and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. Job Expectations
  • Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy.
  • Follow established procedures without bypassing required processes.
  • Accurately document all material transactions.
  • Communicate inventory issues promptly.
  • Work cooperatively with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Management.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Ask questions when procedures or instructions are unclear rather than making unauthorized assumptions or changes.
  • Implement bar coding for inventory materials.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
  • Previous inventory, warehouse, materials, purchasing, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience using an ERP or inventory management system preferred.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift as required.
  • Ability to safely handle materials within the established company weight limits.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate material-handling equipment, when required.
  • Ability to walk and stand throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
