This role includes material handling, surface preparation, housekeeping, assisting trades as needed, and supporting safe work practices on and around vessels. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general manual labor tasks including lifting and moving materials, loading/unloading vehicles, and supporting work crews in a helping/assisting capacity.
Assist with surface preparation work and other ship repair support activities.
Assist mechanics with simple repairs on machinery.
Perform housekeeping to maintain cleanliness and organization of the worksite.
Deliver materials as required.
Perform Fire Watch duties as assigned.
Participate in special projects and other duties as needed.
Read, understand, and follow all safety procedures and instructions.
Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
No formal training required; ship repair experience is helpful.
Experience with general hand tools is helpful.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses & Requirements
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security badge for military installations and civilian shipyards, as required.
Ability to work all shifts and extended hours as needed.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Reliable transportation to all worksites and other locations required by the position at the start of the shift.
Must be able to obtain OSHA 10 certificate/training

Work Environment Work is performed on ships and in shipyard environments. Employees may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or in confined spaces and are regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise levels are usually moderate. Pay:
$21.00 per hour
