Job Description
Materials Recovery Specialist Position Summary The Materials Recovery Specialist is responsible for managing the site's Revert, Scrap, and Remnant processes to maximize material recovery, improve working capital, maintain customer compliance requirements, and ensure accurate inventory records. This role serves as the primary owner of material disposition activities from identification through final sale or disposal. Primary Responsibilities Materials Recovery Identify scrap, revert, and remnant material eligible for disposition. Coordinate collection, segregation, and processing of recoverable materials. Maximize recovery value through timely disposition activities. Track material recovery metrics and report financial results. Remnant Management Maintain inventory of customer-owned remnant material. Verify retention requirements for test rings and customer-specific material. Coordinate customer approvals for material release when required. Ensure required retention samples remain available while releasing excess inventory for scrap. Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory records for scrap and remnant materials. Support inventory reconciliation activities. Reduce aging inventory through proactive review and disposition. Assist with inventory accuracy and audit support. Compliance & Documentation Maintain complete documentation supporting material disposition. Ensure compliance with customer contractual requirements. Support internal and external audits related to material traceability. Maintain disposition records and approvals. Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with Trade Compliance, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Production. Coordinate material movement and storage requirements. Support warehouse organization and inventory cleanup initiatives. Physical Requirements Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds. Frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, climb ladders, and reach overhead. Ability to work in a forging manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust, and industrial equipment. Ability to safely perform repetitive physical tasks throughout an entire shift. Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers.
