Job Summary The Distribution Center (DC) Wave Planner is responsible for managing and optimizing the flow of outbound shipments through effective wave planning, dock scheduling, and transportation coordination. This role ensures timely and efficient order fulfillment by working closely with teams in both the distribution center and branches, along with third-party logistics providers to schedule, track, and resolve any issues related to shipping. Maintains accurate records of logistics activities, monitors shipment statuses, and proactively adjusts plans to address delays or changes in demand. Supports continuous improvement efforts by analyzing logistics processes and implementing strategies to enhance delivery performance and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Essential Functions Coordinates wave planning to ensure efficient grouping and scheduling of orders for picking, packing, and shipping. Manages dock scheduling and assignments to ensure timely unloading of inbound shipments and efficient loading of outbound shipments. Collaborates with third-party logistics providers to coordinate transportation for outbound shipments, ensuring optimal routing, cost efficiency, and adherence to delivery deadlines. Monitors the progress of outgoing shipments and adjusts logistics plans as necessary to accommodate changes in demand or unexpected delays. Analyzes and improves internal logistics processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure accurate and on-time deliveries. Maintains detailed records of shipping schedules, dock assignments, and transportation activities. Tracks and reports on shipment statuses, resolving issues or delays proactively. Works closely with distribution center and branch operations teams to ensure smooth communication and quick resolution of any issues related to outbound shipments. Non-essential Functions Collaborates with the outbound operations team in the distribution center to optimize inventory staging and space utilization in the shipping area. Assists with internal communication regarding order statuses, shipping times, and potential delays, ensuring other teams are aligned with operational schedules. Works with other departments around capacity planning, adjusting shipping volumes, and routes based on real-time demand and operational needs. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is a plus. 2 years of work experience required (2+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse management, or transportation coordination preferred). Prior warehouse distribution experience, including forklift operation and knowledge of electrical products/systems preferred. Working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus. Skills and Abilities Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing logistics requirements. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to optimize operational processes. Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and organize.
