Transpak has 2 open positions for a Full-Time Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Representative reporting to the Operations Manager, with 1 opening located in Holly, MI and 1 located in Sterling Heights, MI.The MP&L Representative ensures Transpak has the correct material, in the correct quantity, at the correct location, and at the correct time to support production and meet customer requirements. Serving as the primary link between customer demand, supplier supply, inventory, production, and logistics, this position is responsible for anticipating risks, coordinating solutions, and preventing avoidable production interruptions, customer shortages, and unnecessary premium freight. This role requires the ability to work independently with little to no daily supervision in a fast-paced automotive environment. Review MRP, customer releases, forecasts, inventory, open orders, and material in transit to determine daily material requirements. Ensure sufficient inventory is available or scheduled to support ongoing production and customer demand. Proactively identify shortages, excess inventory, and potential supply risks, taking immediate corrective action before operations are impacted. Communicate shortages and risks to suppliers and internal teams in a timely manner, and coordinate with Inventory Control to resolve data discrepancies. 2. Customer & Supplier Management Serve as the primary contact for assigned customers and suppliers regarding material and logistics requirements, ensuring professional and responsive relationships. Log into assigned customer and supplier websites and portals daily, or at the frequency required by the specific program. Maintain clear visibility of assigned accounts, tracking forecasts, releases, shortages, shipping requirements, and recovery plans. Provide suppliers with weekly reports consisting of customer shipping history, MRP, inventory data, EDI, and receiving logs. Maintain comprehensive material plans, shipping plans, shortage reports, and other critical department records. 3. Customer Releases, EDI & Portals Review daily customer releases, EDI transmissions, forecasts, purchase orders, bulletins, and electronic communications. Monitor customer and supplier portals for sudden changes or new requirements, and communicate relevant information internally. Maintain applicable release information and resolve EDI or system discrepancies quickly to ensure data accuracy. Transmit Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) accurately and on time to customers. 4. Shipping, Logistics & Packaging Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation to support customer schedules and production requirements. Create shippers, packing lists, Bills of Lading (BOL), ASNs, and other required shipping documentation. Schedule carriers when required and monitor critical, time-sensitive shipments through delivery. Monitor and report premium freight, transportation delays, and freight discrepancies to management. Coordinate returnable container programs, monitor container availability, track customer container inventory, and assist with packaging development for new and existing programs. 5. Plex & System Management Maintain accurate, current information within the Plex system relating to MRP, inventory, receiving, customer purchase orders, releases, shipments, and EDI. Investigate system discrepancies that could affect material planning, inventory, production, or customer shipments. 6. Launch & Cross-Functional Support Support Engineering, Account Management, Operations, Quality, Inventory, and Finance teams as required. Assist with new customer, supplier, program, and part launches by identifying risks and communicating them to the project team. Participate in launch meetings and follow assigned action items through to completion. Required Skills & Competencies Strong material planning and logistics skills, with a deep understanding of MRP and inventory planning concepts. Ability to analyze customer demand, inventory, open orders, and supplier commitments simultaneously across multiple accounts and part numbers. Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills for managing professional customer and supplier relationships. High attention to detail, data accuracy, and the ability to identify risks and escalate issues appropriately. Ability to work cross-functionally and adapt quickly to changing customer requirements in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn and effectively use Plex ERP, customer portals, supplier portals, EDI systems, and transportation networks. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Material Planning & Logistics, Material Control, Supply Chain, Production Control, Inventory Control, or a related field. Automotive manufacturing, Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier, warehousing, or third-party logistics experience. Direct experience with the Plex ERP system. Experience with customer EDI, releases, ASNs, supplier portals, and automotive shipping requirements. Experience coordinating domestic and international transportation.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
