Woodinville Wine Country's mission is to create a world-class wine destination, a supportive, profitable environment for Washington vintners and affiliates, and a suite of resources that no one firm can provide. We harness the genius and creativity of our association members and channel it for the benefit of all members. The Director's role is the primary public face of Woodinville Wine Country and under the oversight of the Board of Directors, plans, organizes, and directs the organization's programs, operations, membership/ retention activities, and promotes tourism in Woodinville. The Director implements the mission and strategic plan as set by the Board.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative, and effective working relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners, including Woodinville Wine Country Board Members, Woodinville Chamber, Woodinville Mayor and Council members, Woodinville City Staff, Woodinville Rotary, the Northshore YMCA, Woodinville Arts Alliance, plus all community and business leaders.
Represent the best interests of the organization and joint project stakeholders throughout community meetings and initiatives
Foster supportive community involvement by providing general management of WWCA events and activities
Lead the tourism marketing efforts
Manage tourism projects such as the Visitor Guide, revised website, expanded map and other projects
Provide liaison with grant partners
Write, manage and track LTAC and other grant funds; invoice for payment and provide reporting
Develop and nurture effective relationships with all Woodinville Wine Country Members and Affiliates
Review and manage sponsorships, and ensure all contract deliverables are completed
Direct staff to implement programs to generate membership growth
Maintain positive relationships with all members of the media and respond promptly to their requests
Maintain an open, transparent and collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors
Provide regular reports on operational budgets, member / affiliate / media relationships, brand and resources to the Board of Directors
Ensure expenses of the organization are managed in accordance with all laws and regulations and Woodinville Wine Country bylaws
Oversee all departments and maintain final authority for hiring and disciplinary action as required
Empower staff members to perform the essential functions of their jobs and provide guidance and support for actions and decisions and hold them accountable
Ensure that all staff members are evaluated on an annual basis and pay scales and benefits are appropriate to the region/organization
Work with the Woodinville Wine Country legal counsel, when appropriate, to ensure the Woodinville Wine Country Association's best interests are protected
Adhere to all company policy and procedures
Represent Woodinville Wine Country at events and meetings as requested; events may be in the evening and/or on weekends
QUALIFICATIONS
A track record of honest and ethical leadership
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Graduate level concentrations on non-profit organizations, communications or management are desirable
Experience working with or in: membership or non-profit organizations, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic revenue generating plans and oversee membership recruitment and retention programs.
Strong leadership and consensus building skills
Ability to create and manage budgets
Prior management and strategic planning experience
Proven track record in developing and administering non-profit programs
Excellent personnel management skills and ability to lead and develop leadership
Must be a self-starter, highly organized and possess polished presentation and persuasive interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Woodinville and key stakeholders is a plus
Must be able to work and attend various events for and on behalf of the organization
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and vehicle to use on daily basis
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Frequent standing, walking and sitting.
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
Occasional crouching and reaching.
Environment is well lit with a low to moderate noise level.
Must be able to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
