Job Description

IRON WOLF GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Lake Havasu City, Arizona Director of Golf Operations Position Summary Iron Wolf Golf & Country Club, a championship 18-hole facility open to members and the public, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Golf Operations. This leader will own day-to-day golf operations and deliver consistent, high-quality experience for members and public guests while driving rounds, yield, merchandise, and event revenue with tight labor and expense control. Like other well-run semi-private clubs, this role balances member service and programming with outside play, tournaments, and outings. The Director is a visible presence on the property, partners closely with Agronomy, Membership, Food & Beverage, and Accounting, and is comfortable stepping into operational roles during peak periods. Key Responsibilities Golf Operations & Guest Experience Oversee daily golf operations including the Golf Shop, tee sheet, starter and marshal functions, cart fleet, driving range / Top Tracer practice facility, and all player services. Manage tee-sheet strategy, pace of play, course utilization, and yield to balance member access with public and outing play. Uphold USGA Rules of Golf, local rules, and club policies governing course usage. Maintain a visible, professional presence throughout the operation; greet members and guests and resolve concerns promptly. Partner with the Golf Course Superintendent on playability, daily setup, tournament conditions, and communication of course status to players. Revenue, Events & Programming Develop and execute strategies to grow rounds, green-fee yield, merchandise sales, lessons, leagues, and golf-related revenue. Plan and execute tournaments, outings, corporate events, leagues, and member golf activities from booking through post-event wrap-up. Coordinate with Membership, Food & Beverage, and Special Events to deliver seamless golf and club experiences. Support player development through clinics, instructional programming, and junior / member golf activities in partnership with teaching staff. Team Leadership & Labor Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate Golf Shop, outside services, and golf operations staff. Build schedules for business volume; control labor while protecting service standards. Set and enforce operational standards, appearance, and service expectations consistent with a semi-private country club. Conduct regular staff meetings focused on service, revenue, cost control, and continuous improvement. Financial Stewardship & Retail Own departmental financial performance: monitor daily, weekly, and monthly revenue and expenses against budget; explain variances and adjust operations accordingly. Manage Golf Shop merchandising, buying, receiving, pricing, displays, inventory turns, and loss prevention. Ensure golf carts and operational equipment are maintained, tracked, and accounted for. Provide management with timely reporting on sales, labor, staffing, inventory, upcoming events, and operational issues. Qualifications Progressive golf operations or golf management experience, preferably at a semi-private, private, or high-volume public/resort facility. Demonstrated leadership of golf staff with a record of service standards and labor discipline. Experience managing a departmental budget, labor, inventory, and revenue targets. Working knowledge of Golf Shop operations, tee-sheet / POS / reservation systems, and tournament software. Strong organization, communication, and member/guest relations skills. Ability to analyze rounds, yield, and labor and make timely operational adjustments. Tournament, outing, and golf-event management experience preferred. PGA of America membership or PGA Associate status preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and peak golf periods. What We Are Looking For The successful candidate is a hands-on operator and hospitality leader—comfortable on the first tee and in the numbers. They take ownership of the golf operation, develop their team, communicate clearly with club leadership, and continually improve the member and guest experience while growing revenue and controlling costs. They understand that at a semi-private club, member loyalty and public-play yield must both be managed with equal care.
