Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1,400 full-time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through company acquisitions and successful bid proposals. It is a family-owned company that firmly believes the key element to its success is knowing how important each employee is in the organization. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Organics Operations Supervisor to lead, coordinate, and direct the activities of equipment operators, drivers, scale house operators, and all temporary staff. Ensure that the workforce is adequately staffed and trained. Exercise independent judgment when determining workflow, staffing and monitoring safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Supervise the day to day activities of the materials processing, recycling, and transfer station facility which includes the sorting, processing and equipment operations. Coordinate the loading of trailers, delivery of organic products, and the unloading of materials. Communicates with Transportation contractors Monitor and control inventory of multiple products in the Organics section Responsible for all daily, weekly, and monthly reporting Ability to operate compost equipment including Loaders, Screens, Grinders ect. is preferred. Willingness to learn how to operate the equipment is a must Assist in processing employee requests including vacation, PTO's etc. Coach and develops employees by continuously communicating with team members and providing guidance for improvement and recognition of efforts Handle and resolve employee relations issues and incorporates consistent and timely disciplinary standards Follow and administers company safety programs by conducting monthly safety meetings, facility inspections and ensuring compliance to all OSHA, AQMD, LEA, Water Board, and DOT regulations Investigate and complete reports for work related injuries and or vehicle accidents/incidents and submits paperwork to appropriate insurance carriers in a timely manner Train new employees on general safety policies, DOT drug and alcohol program and proper use of assigned equipment, will administer corporate policies and ensure safety compliance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Previous experience in a recycling or organics environment is preferred Demonstrate leadership, problem solving and organizational skills and ability to maintain and promote a team work environment Good interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates Excellent communication and customer service skills are required, and ability to effectively interface with the general public and vendors Ability to distinguish trends and recognize problems and implement a plan of action Basic mechanical and P.C. Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to communicate in Spanish is desirable Be available to work weekends and after-hours Valid California Driver's License and have a clean driving record is required Class "A" or "B" California Commercial Driver's license, preferred
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a supervisor and ability to motivate people, required Knowledge of waste industry preferred
PHYSICAL
Must have ability to operate forklift, wheel loader, skid steer, and water truck and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay:
$85,000.00 - $112,000.00 per year
