This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for helping coordinate the flow of work between the office, field, fabrication shop, CNC department, and installation operations . A major component of the position will be serving as the company's primary field project manager , accurately capturing field conditions and ensuring that every project entering production has the information necessary to be fabricated and installed successfully. The Operations Manager will help oversee production scheduling, project readiness, shop workflow, field coordination, quality control, installation scheduling, and general shop operations . The ideal candidate understands countertop fabrication from the field through installation and is capable of identifying problems, organizing people and information, and keeping multiple projects moving through production efficiently. This position is intended to become a key leadership role within Starian Fabrication. Primary ResponsibilitiesOperations & Shop Management Help oversee the daily operation of the fabrication shop and field activities . Coordinate workflow between the office, CNC department, fabrication team, templating, and installation. Review upcoming projects and ensure jobs are properly prepared before entering production. Assist in developing and maintaining the daily and weekly production schedule . Monitor active jobs and identify missing information, materials, approvals, or other issues that could delay production. Coordinate priorities with management and communicate those priorities clearly to the shop. Help ensure fabrication and installation deadlines are being met. Monitor shop organization, workflow, equipment readiness, and general operating procedures. Help maintain accountability for established shop procedures, production standards, and quality expectations. Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend practical improvements to workflow and production. Help coordinate material, tooling, hardware, and supply requirements for upcoming work. Assist management with planning manpower and resources around the production schedule. Maintain clear communication between field personnel, office staff, and fabrication employees. Field Templating & Site Coordination Serve as the primary project manager for residential and commercial countertop projects. Perform accurate field measurements and countertop templating. Inspect jobsite conditions and identify potential fabrication or installation issues before production begins.

Dimensions and finished sizes Seam locations Overhangs Edge details Sink and cooktop cutouts Faucet and accessory locations Backsplash requirements Wall and cabinet conditions Installation access Field modifications Other project-specific requirements Coordinate directly with contractors, builders, designers, homeowners, millwork companies, and other project stakeholders while onsite. Ask the necessary questions in the field and resolve uncertainties before the project reaches fabrication. Clearly communicate all field information to the office, fabrication, and CNC teams. Assist with CAD drawings and digital template processing where applicable. Project Management Help manage projects from field measurement through fabrication, delivery, and installation . Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, approvals, and field conditions. Verify that projects are complete and ready for production before releasing them to the shop. Track outstanding project information and proactively obtain missing details. Coordinate fabrication requirements, project schedules, delivery dates, and installation dates. Communicate with customers and project stakeholders regarding scheduling, field conditions, changes, and project requirements. Identify potential problems early and develop practical solutions before they affect production or installation. Perform final job reviews to confirm fabrication information is complete and accurate. Help manage changes that occur between approved drawings, field conditions, fabrication, and installation. Maintain ownership of assigned projects and follow them through completion. Quality Control & Process Improvement Help ensure finished work meets Starian's quality standards before leaving the shop. Identify recurring fabrication, templating, scheduling, or installation problems and help develop procedures to prevent them. Promote proper documentation and communication throughout the production process. Help establish and maintain standardized operating procedures for shop and field operations. Assist with employee training and reinforcement of established fabrication and operating procedures. Help ensure equipment issues, maintenance requirements, and damaged tools are identified and addressed before they cause production delays. Maintain a clean, organized, efficient, and professional shop environment. Work with ownership to continually improve production efficiency, quality, scheduling, accountability, and overall operating systems . Qualifications Minimum 5 years of project management experience required. Experience with solid surface, stone, marble, granite, quartz, or countertop fabrication strongly preferred. Strong understanding of countertop fabrication and installation. Working knowledge of how a fabrication shop operates from template through finished installation. Ability to accurately measure and document complex field conditions. Strong understanding of construction and jobsite conditions. Excellent attention to detail. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, office personnel, and fabrication employees. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Comfortable managing multiple active projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize work in a fast-moving production environment. Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions. Comfortable taking ownership of projects and following issues through resolution. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to jobsites throughout Connecticut, New York, and surrounding areas. Preferred Experience Countertop or stone fabrication shop management. Production management or shop supervision. Project management. CAD experience. Digital countertop templating. Reading architectural drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents. Coordinating directly with general contractors, millwork companies, designers, architects, and construction professionals. CNC-based countertop fabrication. Scheduling fabrication and installation crews. Quality-control procedures. Shop equipment maintenance and production planning.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
