Position Summary:
The Field Operations Manager leads day-to-day field operations and is accountable for converting estimated labor, production, and schedule expectations into safe, high-quality, profitable field execution across all active projects. Travel /
Work Area:
Our work is centrally located in the Florida Panhandle (Pensacola, Freeport, DeFuniak Springs, Ponce De Leon, Marianna, Chipley, Tallahassee), with work extending into Alabama (Florala, New Brockton, Dothan) and Georgia (Bainbridge, Thomasville). Jobs may be accepted outside this range. Roles & Responsibilities Crew Management & Workforce Development
  • Schedule and coordinate crews' daily activities across multiple active projects.
  • Lead and hold foremen accountable for production, quality, safety, documentation, and crew performance.
  • Manage subcontracted field work to ensure company standards, schedule requirements, and quality expectations are upheld.
  • Manage field hiring in collaboration with office staff, including reviewing applicants, interviewing, and hiring as needed.
  • Coach and develop foremen and field employees while addressing performance issues promptly. Project Mobilization & Turnover
  • Participate in project turnover from Preconstruction / Project Management before mobilization.
  • Review project scope, drawings, specifications, schedule, labor budget, production expectations, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and known risks before work begins.
  • Ensure the assigned foreman understands the scope, schedule, labor expectations, and project-specific requirements before mobilization.
  • Confirm field mobilization requirements are complete before crews are dispatched. Production & Labor Performance
  • Review estimated labor hours and expected production rates before each project begins.
  • Communicate labor budgets and production goals to foremen.
  • Monitor actual labor hours and production against budget throughout each project.
  • Identify jobs trending over labor budget or behind production expectations early and implement corrective action.
  • Hold foremen accountable for meeting production and labor expectations. Scheduling
  • Maintain a rolling field schedule and ensure work is planned at least one week in advance.
  • Notify crews of the jobsite they are expected to report to no later than 48 hours in advance whenever practical.
  • Schedule work in BusyBusy by project and cost code.
  • Ensure crews clock in and out of BusyBusy daily and correct time codes as needed to maintain accurate labor and job-cost tracking.
  • Coordinate manpower between active projects based on schedule, production needs, and priority. Materials, Consumables, Equipment & Small Tools
  • Plan field material, consumable, rental equipment, and small-tool needs before mobilization.
  • Coordinate delivery timing and day-to-day material needs with project requirements.
  • Continuously monitor inventory at the office and on project sites to prevent avoidable production delays.
  • Ensure rental equipment is ordered in advance and demobilized promptly when no longer needed.
  • Track company small tools and equipment and hold crews accountable for loss, damage, and proper care.
  • Coordinate major material packages, purchase orders, and project buyout needs with Preconstruction / Project Management. Quality Control
  • Ensure field work conforms to contract documents, approved submittals, specifications, tolerances, and company quality standards.
  • Identify and correct deficiencies before they result in rework, failed inspections, or GC punch-list items.
  • Hold foremen accountable for pre-pour verification and quality-control procedures. Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and project-specific jobsite requirements.
  • Ensure foremen conduct required safety meetings and maintain required field safety documentation.
  • Correct unsafe practices immediately and coordinate incident reporting and corrective action with management. Field Documentation & Change-Order Protection
  • Ensure foremen complete required daily reports, photos, quantities, timekeeping, and project documentation.
  • Review field documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure potential change-order work, delays, differing conditions, and GC-directed extra work are documented and escalated immediately.
  • Prevent crews from performing unapproved out-of-scope work without proper authorization or management direction, except where immediate action is required for safety or property protection. Project Performance & Billing Support
  • Provide accurate percent-complete information, installed quantities, stored materials, completed change-order work, and other field information required for monthly billing.
  • Coordinate with the Owner, Financial Manager, and Preconstruction / Project Management to ensure field progress is accurately reflected in billing and job-cost reporting.
  • Assist in identifying operational issues affecting project profitability and implement corrective action within the Field Operations Manager's authority. GC & Trade Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary field-level point of contact for GCs and other trades on active projects.
  • Maintain professional working relationships while protecting company scope, schedule, and contractual position.
  • Resolve normal field issues and escalate major contractual, financial, schedule, or customer issues to ownership / project management as needed. Key Accountability Areas

  • Commercial concrete construction experience required.
  • Scheduling and field-management experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and reinforcing-steel shop drawings required.
  • Ability to understand labor budgets, production expectations, and basic job-cost information required.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and hold field personnel accountable required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on project needs.
  • Clean driving record preferred.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
