MatWorks A Mountville Company Operations Manager Location LaGrange, Ga Department Operations Reports To President, MatWorks Job Type Full-Time Job Summary The Operations Manager leads day-to-day manufacturing operations at MatWorks, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while driving continuous improvement. This role balances people leadership, process discipline, and customer-focused decision-making in line with Mountville's values: do the right thing, do what is best for the customer, and drive improvement and innovation. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily production operations, ensuring safety, quality, and delivery targets are met Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and floor teams Monitor plant KPIs (safety, quality, throughput, cost, on-time delivery) and drive corrective action when targets slip Partner with Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve bottlenecks and prevent downtime Identify and lead continuous improvement projects (lean, 5S, waste reduction) Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies Manage staffing needs, including scheduling, training, and performance management Control operational costs and support budget planning Communicate production status and issues to plant leadership Ensure customer commitments are met by prioritizing what is best for the customer in operational decisions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience 5+ years of manufacturing operations experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role Experience with lean manufacturing / continuous improvement methods preferred Strong people-leadership and communication skills Comfortable using production and inventory systems (ERP/MES experience a plus) Ability to work on the plant floor and respond to shift-based issues as needed Physical Requirements Ability to walk/stand for extended periods on a manufacturing floor Ability to work in a plant environment (noise, temperature variation, PPE required) What Success Looks Like A safe plant with a strong safety culture Consistent on-time, in-full delivery to customers An engaged, well-trained team Measurable improvement projects delivered each year
