Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fiber Splicing Foreman to oversee fiber splicing operations and support the successful completion of fiber optic construction projects. This hands-on leadership role will spend approximately 50% of the time supervising field crews and subcontractors and 50% performing fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and quality control activities. While this position will initially report to projects in Florida, it is a field-based role supporting projects across several states. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate. This position requires 100% travel availability , and project assignments may vary based on workload and customer demand. The company covers travel costs. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can ensure project quality, coordinate field operations, train team members, and proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact project timelines and deliverables. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise fiber splicing crews and subcontractors in the field. Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with company and customer quality standards. Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration activities. Conduct quality control inspections of splicing work and provide coaching to ensure consistency and accuracy. Verify crews and subcontractors are assigned and performing work in the correct locations. Coordinate daily field activities and communicate project status to management. Perform construction ride-outs to verify construction quality, project readiness, and field progress. Identify, document, and coordinate resolution of missing construction, construction defects, or project obstacles that impact splicing operations. Capture and upload field photos and project documentation into GIS systems. Review splice packages, network prints, and project documentation for completeness and accuracy. Train, mentor, and develop splicing technicians and field personnel. Assist with planning crew assignments, schedules, and resource allocation. Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail across all projects. Serve as the primary field-level resource for troubleshooting fiber network issues and construction-related concerns. QualificationsRequired Minimum of 3 years of fiber optic splicing experience. Previous leadership, foreman, or crew supervision experience preferred. Strong understanding of fiber optic construction, installation, and maintenance practices. Experience reading network designs, splice diagrams, and construction prints. Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience with fusion splicing equipment, OTDRs, power meters, and fiber testing tools. Familiarity with GIS systems and field documentation requirements. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. 100% travel availability required. Must be willing to travel extensively and work on projects across several states as business needs require. Preferred Experience managing subcontractors. Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction methods. Previous experience training and developing technicians. OSHA or other relevant safety certifications. Frequent standing, walking, and working on active construction sites. Ability to walk uneven terrain and navigate construction environments safely. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, climb, and reach as required to perform field duties. Must possess sufficient visual acuity to distinguish fiber color codes, review splice diagrams, and perform detailed inspections. Frequent use of hand tools, fiber splicing equipment, laptops, tablets, and testing devices. Ability to drive to multiple job sites and travel throughout assigned project areas as needed. Extensive travel is required, including overnight stays and assignments in multiple states throughout the year. Overtime and extended work hours may be required to meet project schedules and customer commitments.
