Job Description

Description:
Position Summary LSI is seeking an experienced ocean operations professional to lead the day-to-day performance of our import and export operation. The right person may be an established manager or a respected team lead ready for the next step. Success requires strong technical forwarding knowledge, calm problem solving, clear ownership, and the ability to build accountability without losing the personal service that distinguishes LSI. About LSI Founded in 2003, LSI Logistic Solutions develops customized, multimodal transportation solutions for clients and partners across domestic and international markets. Our operation is designed for flexibility, personal service, and dependable execution across ocean, air, road, customs, and supply chain needs. Our mission is to continually develop advanced, innovative, and cost-effective logistics solutions while maintaining service standards that meet or exceed client expectations. What You Will Do
  • Lead daily ocean import and export workflows from booking and documentation through customs coordination, delivery, billing, and file closeout.
  • Set clear priorities, assign work appropriately, monitor deadlines, and ensure consistent follow-through across the team.
  • Serve as an escalation point for service failures, documentation issues, carrier changes, holds, demurrage, detention, and other exceptions.
  • Coach team members on technical execution, customer communication, file quality, profitability, and accountability.
  • Maintain procedures and controls that support accurate documentation, timely milestones, compliant files, and complete billing.
  • Partner with sales and customers to confirm that proposed solutions are executable, properly priced, and operationally supported.
  • Monitor workload, service performance, margins, aged files, billing timeliness, claims, and recurring root causes.
  • Build productive relationships with steamship lines, NVOCCs, agents, brokers, truckers, terminals, warehouses, and customers.
  • Support continuous improvement, system discipline, cross-training, and scalable growth.
Requirements:
What You Will Bring
  • At least 5 to 7 years of hands-on ocean import and ocean export operations experience in freight forwarding.
  • Strong understanding of bookings, bills of lading, documentation, cutoffs, Incoterms, routing, rates, customs interfaces, and final delivery coordination.
  • Prior people-management experience is welcome but not required; at least 2 years as a team lead or supervisor is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize high-volume work, resolve exceptions, and communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Experience monitoring file profitability, vendor costs, billing accuracy, and operational key performance indicators.
  • Sound judgment, credibility, and the ability to hold others accountable respectfully and consistently.
  • Comfort working across functions and geographic networks in a customer-focused environment. How Success Will Be Measured
  • Import and export files move on time with accurate documentation and proactive communication.
  • Exceptions are escalated early, resolved decisively, and reviewed for root causes.
  • Billing is timely and complete, leakage is reduced, and file-level profitability is visible.
  • Team expectations are clear and employees receive useful coaching and follow-through.
  • Customers, agents, and internal partners experience reliable ownership from the ocean team.
