Job Description
Position Summary The Town of Ocean City's Special Events Department is seeking a motivated, energetic, and customer-focused individual to serve as the Seasonal Winterfest Assistant Manager . This first-line supervisory position assists the Winterfest Manager with the planning, coordination, and daily operations of Winterfest of Lights , one of Ocean City's premier holiday events. The Winterfest Assistant Manager serves as the acting Winterfest Manager at least two evenings each week and plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and exceptional guest experiences throughout the event season. Work Schedule This is a seasonal, evening position requiring availability: November 19, 2026 through January 2, 2027 Minimum of five (5) evenings per week 4:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Weekends and holidays are required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the Winterfest Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of nightly Winterfest operations. Supervise and provide direction to temporary seasonal personnel. Oversee guest flow and operations for tram loading and unloading. Coordinate operations at Santa House. Supervise ticket sales and admissions staff. Manage line control to ensure a positive guest experience. Coordinate road guard assignments and pedestrian safety. Assist with the operation and supervision of the Winterfest Boutique, including retail sales and inventory oversight. Provide exceptional customer service while responding professionally to guest questions and concerns. Monitor event operations to ensure compliance with safety procedures and departmental policies. Serve as acting Winterfest Manager in the Manager's absence. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Experience supervising staff in an event, hospitality, tourism, or retail environment. Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail. A positive attitude, flexibility, and enthusiasm for creating memorable visitor experiences. Dependability and the ability to perform under pressure during high-attendance nights. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous supervisory or management experience required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with the public. Retail or cash-handling experience preferred. Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively supervise temporary staff and resolve operational issues. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the holiday season.
