Operations Manager - Multi-Location Automotive Repair Midas Auto Repair - Annapolis, Laurel, Pasadena and Wheaton, Maryland We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the daily performance of four established Midas auto repair locations in Maryland. This individual will work directly with the Owner and Store Managers to strengthen sales, customer service, employee accountability and overall shop performance. This is a field-based leadership position requiring regular travel between all four locations. It is not primarily a back-office or accounting role.
Position Responsibilities:
Multi-Shop Operations
Oversee day-to-day operations across all four locations.
Maintain consistent operating standards, procedures and customer-service expectations.
Visit each shop regularly to observe operations, identify problems and follow through on corrective action.
Step in to assist with store operations or management coverage when necessary.
Ensure each location is clean, organized, properly staffed and operating efficiently. Store Manager Leadership
Manage, coach and hold Store Managers accountable for results.
Conduct regular performance reviews and operational meetings.
Help managers improve leadership, employee communication and follow-through.
Address staffing, attendance, performance and workplace concerns promptly.
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency and professionalism. Sales and Customer Service
Drive revenue, car count, gross profit and customer retention.
Coach managers and service advisors on presenting recommended repairs and maintenance.
Ensure customers receive timely updates and complete explanations of needed services.
Monitor declined-service follow-up and recent-customer follow-up.
Support efforts to generate positive Google reviews and maintain strong customer ratings.
Assist with resolving escalated customer concerns. Shop Performance and Accountability
Review shop reports, sales results, gross profit, labor performance, expenses and other key performance indicators.
Develop improvement plans for underperforming locations.
Monitor Digital Vehicle Inspection completion and presentation.
Ensure repair orders are complete, accurate and properly documented.
Promote proper workflow, technician productivity and efficient use of shop capacity.
Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and improve profitability. Processes and Standardization
Help implement consistent pricing, promotions, service packages and operating procedures.
Ensure managers and employees follow established company policies and processes.
Work with the Business Systems & Controls Manager to support RO Writer accuracy, data integrity, inventory controls and system adoption.
Assist with rolling out new programs, procedures and technology across all locations.
Ensure operational changes are properly communicated, trained and consistently followed. Communication with Ownership
Report directly to the Owner.
Provide regular updates regarding shop performance, staffing, operational concerns and recommended solutions.
Bring problems forward promptly rather than allowing them to continue.
Take ownership of assigned projects and follow them through to completion.
Help reduce the Owner's involvement in routine daily operating issues. Qualifications
At least five years of automotive repair management, service advisor leadership or comparable multi-unit operational experience.
Multi-location or high-volume automotive management experience strongly preferred.
Strong sales, customer-service and employee-coaching abilities.
Working knowledge of automotive repair shop operations, repair orders, gross profit and workflow.
Ability to read and use performance reports to make sound operating decisions.
Strong organizational, communication and follow-through skills.
Comfortable holding managers and employees accountable.
Proficient with automotive management software and general business technology; RO Writer experience is a plus.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to travel regularly between Annapolis, Laurel, Pasadena, Wheaton and the Central Office in Millersville. Compensation
Competitive base salary based on experience.
Performance-based incentive opportunity tied to the combined results of all four locations.
