Electric Power Supply & Market Operations Manager

Job Description

Help Lead the Future of Public Power The City of Zeeland Board of Public Works is seeking an experienced and strategic Electric Power Supply & Market Operations Manager to lead our Electric Power Production Department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing electric generation operations, wholesale power market activities, energy resource planning, and a talented team of utility professionals. Working closely with the General Manager, you'll help shape the City's long-term power supply strategy while ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electricity to our community. What You'll Do Lead and develop a high-performing electric power production team. Oversee electric generation facilities, maintenance programs, and operational performance. Manage wholesale energy, capacity, and transmission market participation. Develop short- and long-term power supply strategies and resource planning initiatives. Evaluate generation assets and lead capital improvement and energy resource projects. Manage power purchase agreements, fuel supply contracts, and utility risk management activities. Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and reliability requirements. Develop departmental operating and capital budgets. Present technical, operational, and financial recommendations to executive leadership and the Board. Serve as a key member of the BPW leadership team and participate in emergency response and business continuity planning. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility operations, power supply, generation, engineering, or wholesale market operations. At least three years of supervisory or leadership experience. Strong knowledge of electric generation systems, wholesale energy markets, transmission operations, and utility regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management, budgeting, and organizational leadership. Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills. Why Join Zeeland BPW? $114,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
