About Tec-Tel Communications Tec-Tel Communications is a growing national provider of security integration, access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, and managed technology services. As we continue to expand our service organization, we are seeking an experienced Service Operations Manager to lead daily operations while helping build scalable processes that support long-term growth. This is a leadership role for someone who understands both the operational and customer-facing sides of the security integration industry. The ideal candidate has experience managing technicians, subcontractors, service delivery, and customer expectations while maintaining a strong focus on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. Position Summary The Service Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the national service organization. This role oversees the complete service lifecycle—from dispatch and scheduling through completion, customer communication, documentation, and invoicing readiness. The successful candidate will be a hands-on operational leader who enjoys solving problems, supporting customers, improving workflows, and helping teams execute at a high level. While primarily office-based, this role includes occasional travel for customer meetings, site surveys, project support, and operational oversight as needed. Key ResponsibilitiesService Operations Oversee the daily health of the service board from ticket creation through completion. Ensure every ticket has a defined owner, documented next action, and appropriate priority. Monitor ticket aging, backlog, response times, and overall service performance. Coordinate scheduling priorities for internal technicians and subcontractors. Maintain operational visibility while ensuring work progresses efficiently through each stage of the service lifecycle. Customer Experience Serve as the primary operational escalation point for service-related customer issues. Communicate proactively with customers regarding service status, scheduling, and issue resolution. Build strong relationships with key accounts through consistent communication and execution. Partner with customers to ensure a positive service experience while balancing operational priorities. Team Leadership Lead dispatchers, service coordinators, field technicians, and subcontracted resources. Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing field personnel. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service. Project & Field Operations Coordinate service-related projects from scheduling through completion. Perform customer site surveys as needed to validate scope and support project planning. Partner with Project Management, Engineering, Sales, and Operations to ensure smooth project handoffs. Review technician documentation, closeout reports, labor entries, site photos, and customer deliverables for completeness and accuracy. Operational Excellence Develop, improve, and maintain operational workflows and standard operating procedures. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and service delivery. Assist in developing dashboards, reporting, and operational KPIs. Support continuous improvement initiatives as the service organization continues to grow. Financial & Administrative Oversight Review labor utilization, subcontractor costs, purchase orders, rental equipment, and job progress. Ensure completed work is documented appropriately for timely customer invoicing. Identify operational risks and recommend corrective actions when necessary. Maintain accurate operational documentation and reporting. Qualifications 5-7+ years of experience in security integration, low-voltage systems, field service management, or service operations leadership. Previous experience managing a service department, dispatch operation, or field service organization. Strong understanding of access control, video surveillance, intrusion systems, structured cabling, and related technologies. Experience managing technicians and subcontractors across multiple geographic regions. Experience using service management, dispatch, or ticketing platforms to manage daily operations (ConnectWise experience is a plus). Strong organizational, leadership, and project coordination skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail. Financial understanding of job costing, labor utilization, and service profitability. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting enterprise or multi-site customers. Knowledge of service reporting, KPI development, and operational dashboards. Experience developing workflows, standard operating procedures, or process improvements. Familiarity with AI-assisted productivity tools and service automation is a plus. What Success Looks Like Within the first 90 days, the successful candidate will: Take ownership of the daily service operation and service board. Build strong relationships with customers, technicians, subcontractors, and internal departments. Improve ticket visibility, ownership, and communication. Reduce ticket aging while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and efficiency. Pay:
$110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
