Job Description

Performance-Based Pay Increase This position includes a 90-day probationary period. Employees who successfully complete the probationary period, demonstrate reliability, accountability, and meet performance expectations will receive an increase to $18.00 per hour. Position Overview We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and accountable Kennel Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kennel facility. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for maintaining the health, welfare, cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of all kennel areas. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. This position reports directly to the Branch Chief and requires someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of care for our dogs and facility. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Oversee the daily operation and condition of the kennel facility. Conduct routine health checks on assigned canines. Administer medications, vaccinations, heartworm tests, and other preventive treatments as directed. Track preventive care schedules and report results and concerns to management. Observe and report signs of illness, injury, behavioral changes, or health concerns. Maintain exceptional kennel cleanliness, sanitation, and organization standards. Ensure dogs receive proper feeding, watering, exercise, and general daily care. Monitor kennel inventory and notify management when supplies need replenished. Transport canines to veterinary appointments, airports, training locations, contract locations, and other designated destinations. Coordinate canine transportation schedules as directed. Report facility maintenance issues and operational concerns promptly. Assist with shift coverage and operational needs when required. Maintain professional communication with staff and management. Ensure the kennel remains safe, clean, organized, and operationally ready at all times. Work Environment This position requires flexibility, independence, and accountability. While teamwork is important, there will be times when you are expected to work alone and manage kennel operations independently. Requirements Previous experience working with dogs, kennels, boarding facilities, veterinary clinics, shelters, or similar environments is preferred. Ability to safely handle dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be dependable, professional, and punctual. Schedule & Availability Full-time position. Travel is a required part of this role. Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required. Must be available for on-call situations and emergency call-ins when operational needs arise. Must be willing to cover shifts when necessary to ensure kennel operations continue uninterrupted. $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
