Job Description

Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.
Job Summary:
The Order Selector is based at the Leonard Lavonia Distribution Center, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for the accurate and efficient selection of products in the distribution center. This position reports directly to the Distribution Center Manager and does not have direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
Receives pick lists or order sheets detailing the items and quantities to be pulled from inventory. Accurately locates and picks products from storage areas based on order requirements. Uses material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or hand trucks, to transport picked items to the packing or shipping areas and assists in packing and preparing items for shipment, ensuring they are properly labeled and secured. Organizes and arranges products for efficient packing and shipping. Keeps track of pulled items to ensure accurate inventory levels and reports any discrepancies or shortages. Checks for product quality and damages and inspects items for defects or damages and reports any issues. Follows quality control procedures to maintain the highest standards of product integrity. Adheres to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating material handling equipment and working in the distribution center. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Works with team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient order processing. Maintains a clean and organized work area, ensuring that materials and equipment are stored in designated locations and assists in general housekeeping tasks to keep the distribution center tidy.

Competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities): Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in order fulfillment. Familiarity with handheld scanners or other devices for order tracking. Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to order pulling in a distribution center setting. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic distribution center environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Education/Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1 year of experience in a distribution center preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 pounds. Physical stamina to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to work in awkward and cramped positions. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to repeat the same or similar movements. Good vision, including depth perception. Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, in a manufacturing distribution center environment. Ability to hear and talk.
