Procurement Manager

Job Description

AHR Metals is looking for a Procurement Manager to join our team and take the lead on purchasing, supplier relationships, and procurement activities across the company. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to find the right materials and services, work with vendors, negotiate pricing, and keep things moving when priorities change. You'll work closely with our operations, project management, accounting, and shop teams to make sure our people have what they need, when they need it, while keeping costs and quality in check. We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable communicating with vendors and coworkers, and able to take ownership of the purchasing process from start to finish.
What You'll Do:
Manage the day-to-day purchasing and procurement needs of the company. Source materials, equipment, supplies, and services from qualified vendors. Request and compare quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and make purchasing decisions based on cost, quality, availability, and project requirements. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and suppliers. Monitor orders from purchase through delivery and follow up on delays, shortages, quality concerns, or other issues. Work with project managers, operations, shop personnel, and accounting to understand purchasing needs and priorities. Review purchasing requirements and help ensure materials and services are available when needed to keep projects on schedule. Maintain accurate purchasing records, purchase orders, pricing, and vendor information. Evaluate current suppliers and identify opportunities for better pricing, quality, service, or lead times. Help identify and develop new suppliers when needed. Work with management to establish purchasing practices and improve the company's overall procurement process. Help manage vendor agreements and ensure vendors meet applicable requirements. Identify potential supply issues early and work with the appropriate teams to find practical solutions. Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and any applicable customer, government, or contractual requirements. Support other administrative and procurement-related duties as needed.
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial environment. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, talking with vendors, asking questions, and getting things done. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple orders, vendors, and priorities at the same time. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm when plans change. Ability to read and understand quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and basic commercial terms. Comfortable working with computers and purchasing/accounting software. Ability to work independently while also being a team player. A practical, common-sense approach to purchasing and problem-solving. Nice to Have Experience purchasing materials for an industrial, manufacturing, fabrication, or construction company. Experience working with steel, metals, industrial materials, equipment, or fabrication supplies. Experience with ERP, accounting, or purchasing software. Experience working with government or government-contracted projects. Familiarity with government purchasing requirements, including FAR requirements, is a plus. Why AHR Metals? At AHR Metals, we're a team and family-based company, not just a collection of departments. The work we do matters, and our purchasing decisions have a direct impact on our projects, our customers, and the people working in the field and in the shop. We're looking for someone who wants to be involved, take ownership, and become a valuable part of our team.
