We partner with school districts, charter schools, Head Start programs, and afterschool and summer programs — serving millions of meals each year through federal food programs including NSLP, SBP, CACFP, and SFSP. Our food is made from scratch, sourced locally, and built on a commitment to nutrition, compliance, and genuine care for the kids we feed. We're growing, and we need an experienced Procurement & Inventory Manager to help us keep our supply chain as strong as our food. The Role As Procurement & Inventory Manager, you'll own the full lifecycle of our supply chain — from sourcing and vendor relationships to warehouse operations and financial reporting. You'll work closely with our culinary, operations, and finance teams to ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time, at the right cost. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both strategic thinking and daily operational execution. What You Will Do Vendor & Supplier Management Build and maintain strong relationships with food distributors, local farms, and specialty suppliers Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service terms to optimize cost and quality Evaluate and onboard new vendors; conduct periodic performance reviews Ensure all suppliers meet Chefables' food safety, compliance, and quality standards Inventory Management Oversee real-time inventory tracking across all storage locations Develop and maintain par levels, reorder points, and demand forecasting systems Minimize waste through accurate ordering aligned with production schedules and program menus Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile against system records Ensure proper storage conditions for all food categories (dry, refrigerated, frozen) Finance Collaboration Partner with the finance team on budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis Process and reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and vendor payments Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance Provide procurement data and reporting to support financial planning Warehouse & Team Leadership Manage and develop warehouse staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment Maintain compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP, local health codes) Oversee receiving processes, including inspecting deliveries for quality and accuracy What We are Looking For Required 3-5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management — food service, food manufacturing, or distribution strongly preferred Proven experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating supplier contracts Hands-on experience with inventory management systems and demand planning Strong financial acumen; comfortable working with budgets, POs, and cost reporting Experience supervising warehouse or operations staff Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (HACCP, ServSafe, or equivalent) Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; experience with ERP or inventory software a plus Preferred Experience in K-12 school food service, institutional foodservice, or a mission-driven food company Familiarity with USDA federal food program compliance (NSLP, CACFP, SFSP) Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus Who You Are Highly organized with strong attention to detail — you don't let things fall through the cracks A clear communicator who can work across teams (culinary, ops, finance) A natural problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally complex environment Someone who takes ownership and holds their team to a high standard Passionate about good food and the mission of feeding kids well Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and holidays Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven company that's been serving students for over 21 years Chefables is an equal opportunity employer.
