Global Commodity Manager Position Summary Reporting to the Global Procurement Manager, the Commodity Manager owns the development and execution of global commodity strategies for spend categories. This role is accountable for cost productivity, supplier performance, supply continuity, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation across a global supply base. The position requires a strategic, competitive, and execution-focused leader who can convert market intelligence, spend analytics, and business priorities into sourcing actions that deliver measurable business results. Serves as a strategic partner to operations, engineering, quality, materials, and finance in driving enterprise value through strategic procurement Responsibilities & Deliverables
Own and execute global commodity strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, innovation, supplier capability, and long-term total value
Lead and coach cross-functional teams, providing direction, accountability, and support to drive sourcing execution, supplier performance improvement, and business results
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through supplier selection, negotiation, implementation, and results realization
Analyze spend, market conditions, supplier economics, commodity trends, and business demand to identify sourcing opportunities, supply risks, and competitive advantages
Own supplier selection, sourcing recommendations, commodity decisions, and award strategies with accountability for business outcomes
Build and maintain a robust productivity pipeline including PPV, VAVE, negotiations, should-cost opportunities, make/buy analysis, supplier consolidation, and low-cost region sourcing initiatives
Manage supplier performance through segmentation, scorecards, quarterly business reviews, corrective actions, development plans, and escalation management
Negotiate and manage commercial agreements, pricing structures, long-term sourcing commitments, and key contractual terms that protect the business and improve competitiveness
Lead supply risk mitigation and continuity planning through dual sourcing, capacity reviews, lead time reduction, inventory strategy alignment, resourcing, and business continuity actions
Project manage cross-functional sourcing and supplier improvement initiatives involving suppliers, engineering, operations, quality, materials, and finance
Monitor market intelligence including commodity movements, supplier capability changes, tariffs, regional sourcing opportunities, and geopolitical risks, and translate them into proactive business actions
Collaborate with enterprise commodity leaders and internal stakeholders to leverage scale, align sourcing approaches, and share best practices across the organization
Operate with high throughput and urgency, managing multiple sourcing programs, supplier actions, and performance initiatives simultaneously
Travel up to 20% to assess, develop, and manage domestic and global sources of supply Organizational Alignment This role reports directly to the Global Procurement Manager and works closely with Materials Management, Buyers/Planners, Supplier Quality, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Product Management, and other key stakeholders Qualifications, Skills & Work Traits
Management experience with the ability to lead, coach, and develop individuals or cross-functional project teams while creating accountability for results
Strong strategic judgment with the ability to anticipate financial, operational, and supplier implications of sourcing decisions
Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority
Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capability and experience using structured root cause analysis, corrective actions, and countermeasure development
Demonstrated ability to make sound commercial decisions with incomplete data and in dynamic business conditions
Strong financial acumen with experience building business cases, savings models, sourcing recommendations, and executive-ready presentations
Demonstrated change leadership, persistence, and resilience in driving supplier improvement, sourcing transitions, and cost productivity initiatives
Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Strong command of metrics, dashboards, supplier scorecards, and performance data to drive accountability and measurable results
Hands-on, action-oriented, and willing to work at both strategic and detailed levels to deliver outcomes
Track record of meeting or exceeding performance targets and progressing through increasing scope and accountability Technical Competencies
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment
Experience with Oracle, JDE, SAP, or similar ERP systems preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, spend analytics, or data visualization tools preferred Experience
7+ years of experience in procurement, commodity management, or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment
Prior experience leading teams, managing direct or indirect reports, or driving cross-functional project teams through complex sourcing, supplier, or operational initiatives
Experience developing and executing global sourcing strategies across regions, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
Experience leading supplier negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, sourcing transitions, and supplier performance improvement activities
Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving methodologies preferred Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field
MBA is a plus
