This role develops supplier partnerships, drives cost savings, ensures material availability, manages inventory performance, and supports ERP/MRP systems to optimize purchasing and production planning. The position also requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs), convert project requirements into procurement plans, and support multiple manufacturing projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships. Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and freight agreements. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers. Monitor market conditions, lead times, tariffs, and supply risks. Develop alternate sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity. Procurement & Purchasing Procure steel plate, structural steel, coatings, hardware, and other production materials. Manage RFQs, supplier selection, bid evaluations, and purchase orders. Coordinate purchasing activities with Engineering, Production, Estimating, and Project Management teams. Track supplier performance and expedite critical deliveries. Identify cost reduction and value improvement opportunities. Engineering Drawings, BOMs & Material Planning Read and interpret engineering, fabrication, and structural drawings. Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs). Develop material takeoffs and procurement plans from project documentation. Support demand planning and material forecasting within ERP/MRP systems. Manage engineering change orders and maintain accurate material requirements. ERP/MRP & Inventory Management Support implementation and optimization of ERP/MRP purchasing processes. Maintain item master data, supplier records, and purchasing parameters. Develop inventory control procedures, cycle counting, and replenishment strategies. Monitor inventory accuracy, turnover, and material availability. Implement and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs. Continuous Improvement & Compliance Develop procurement and inventory performance metrics. Standardize purchasing processes and improve operational efficiency. Required Qualifications 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or purchasing experience in manufacturing, steel fabrication, construction, or related industries. Experience sourcing steel plate, structural steel, and industrial materials. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs. Experience with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of steel grades, ASTM standards, fabrication processes, and material specifications. Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience in water storage tank, structural steel, pressure vessel, or heavy fabrication manufacturing. Experience with ERP platforms such as Strumis, Epicor, Acumatica, Oracle, or NetSuite.

$70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
