Procurement Manager

Job Description

Procurement Manager About the Role Shields Facilities Management (SFM) is seeking a strategic, detail‑driven Procurement Manager to lead sourcing initiatives, strengthen supplier partnerships, and drive KPI‑based performance across our national maintenance network. This role is ideal for a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, collaborates effectively across teams, and consistently delivers high‑quality outcomes. You will play a critical role in optimizing cost, quality, compliance, and operational readiness, ensuring SFM maintains a competitive edge while supporting essential services nationwide. Key Responsibilities The Procurement Manager oversees the full procurement lifecycle - from requisition through delivery - ensuring every transaction aligns with SFM policies, quality standards, and operational readiness requirements. This role leads to strategic sourcing initiatives that strengthen supplier performance, improve cost and quality outcomes, and expand SFM's nationwide vendor network. The manager conducts high‑impact supplier negotiations, secures competitive terms, and drives continuous improvement through structured supplier performance management. This position owns core procurement KPIs, including cost savings, cycle‑time reduction, supplier compliance, and readiness metrics, partnering closely with Operations, Finance, and field teams to meet department‑wide targets. Responsibilities include analyzing procurement data, developing actionable insights, supporting leadership reporting, and performing ongoing market research to identify and evaluate new supplier opportunities. The role also provides urgent and off‑hours procurement support as needed, serves as a designated member of SFM's snow‑season on‑call team, and coordinates suppliers, materials, and emergency need to ensure uninterrupted service. The Procurement Manager maintains a positive, collaborative presence, supports team training, and assists other divisions to uphold SFM's culture of operational excellence. Qualifications The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably within maintenance or facilities services, with a strong track record of managing high‑volume, nationwide vendor networks. They possess advanced negotiation and contract management skills, deep knowledge of procurement best practices, and proven success in strategic sourcing across multi‑trade environments. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional analytical ability, sound decision‑making, and meticulous attention to detail, paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to turn challenges into actionable solutions. A self‑starter mindset is essential, along with the capability to work independently while supporting team‑wide KPIs and departmental goals. Technical proficiency with tools such as Smartsheet, Salesforce, MS Office, and other procurement platforms is required. This role also demands strong problem‑solving skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization. Experience with maintenance vendors, service contracts, and multi‑trade operational environments is strongly preferred. Why Join SFM?
