Job Description
Agriculture Products Sales and Procurement Manager:
The Agriculture Products Sales and Procurement Manager has three primary areas of responsibility and focus as related to Groundwork nursery, Appalachian Harvest Herb Hub, and ASD as a whole. Area 1: Conduct a market analysis on sales avenues for woody cut perennials, trees grown as part of the Appalachian Harvest nursery, and forest botanical planting stock grown by ASD programs. This area focuses on expanding market access, increasing sales, and building a viable social enterprise through the ASD nursery. (40% estimated FTE) Responsibilities for Area 1
Include:
Conduct a market analysis on the scope of nursery products to be grown by the ASD nursery and best channels to sell to Woody Cut Florals (i.e. red/yellow twig dogwood, willow) Planting Stock (i.e. trees, shrubs, and forest botanicals) Inoculated trees (i.e truffle trees) Other notable/promising woody or herbaceous perennials that arise during market research Identify potential buyers and suppliers of nursery products determined by the market analysis This plan should operate at all scales: Direct-to-consumer, retail, wholesale, etc Research should include multiple industries grown for at the site (floristry, agriculture, craft industry, cosmetics, neutraceuticals, textiles etc) Create a plan for distribution of nursery products shipping/distribution trucks/delivery Supply management Special attention to be paid to shipping large/bulky items, specifically full-length willow rods, both fresh for pole planting, and dried as weavers Present this market analysis to the ASD team Area 2: Develop relationships with potential suppliers including other stock nurseries, farmers, and other partners growing unique products. (20% estimated FTE, increase to 30% after market analysis) Responsibilities for Area 2
Include:
Develop a process for demand projecting and source procurement How much are we going to sell? Where are those sales going to come from? What responsibilities need permanent staffing? Who do they fall to? Identify partners who could be suppliers or purchasers to supplement the markets identified in the market analysis Work with partners to production plan for meeting nursery stock needs Area 3: Manage orders, distribution, and sales of nursery products. (30% estimated FTE, increase to 50% after market analysis) Responsibilities for Area 3 include: Create best practices protocol to hold materials before shipping Create a shipping and packaging process as well as quality control measures for the Groundwork nursery team Manage and pursue order accounts for nursery products Production plan with the Groundwork nursery and partner nurseries to secure the supply line Grow distribution channels to increase sales Report on margin, sales, and account information with the ASD finance team Area 4: Conduct regular activities as a member of the ASD team. (10% estimated FTE) Responsibilities for Area 4

Attend bi-weekly ASD Team Meetings Attend weekly Appalachian Harvest Food Hub meetings with additional responsibilities defined at those meetings Attend weekly One on One Meetings with Director of Groundwork Participate in (1) ASD major event (retreat, summit, etc) planning committee as needed. Attend and participate in all major ASD mandatory events (retreats, summits, planning days) Participate in budget meetings for assigned grants. Facilitate sales meetings Communicate time out of office via Google Calendar Respond to requests from management and other program employees as needed
