Summary:
Fort Lupton High School is seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive staff member to serve as the sponsor of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Youth Council. The sponsor will guide students in developing leadership, civic engagement, academic excellence, and community service while fostering pride in Hispanic heritage and promoting inclusion for all students. The sponsor will work collaboratively with school administration, local LULAC leaders, families, and community partners to provide meaningful educational, cultural, and leadership opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership Recruit, advise, and mentor student members while maintaining an active LULAC Youth Council. Facilitate regular meetings and assist student officers in planning agendas and activities. Promote leadership development, public speaking, advocacy, and civic engagement opportunities. Coordinate and attend community service projects, cultural celebrations, and educational events. Support student participation in LULAC conferences, leadership institutes, and regional or national activities. Promote academic success, on-time graduation, college readiness, and postsecondary planning. Share scholarship opportunities through the LULAC National Scholarship Fund and assist students with applications. Maintain communication with students, families, school administration, and community partners. Ensure compliance with district policies, school expectations, and LULAC guidelines. Maintain club records, budgets, calendars, and required reports. Communication & Relationship Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with students, parents, staff, and school administration. Support strong relationships with the Fort Lupton community partners Represent Fort Lupton High School and the LULAC program in a positive and professional manner at all times. Assist with team meetings, parent meetings, and program events as requested Safety & Supervision Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. Supervise students during meetings, community events, parades and off site educational opportunities or events. Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and student concerns following district policies and established safety protocols. Promote inclusion and uphold high standards of professionalism in representing the LULAC organization within the school and community
Qualifications:
Certified/Licensed Teacher preferred. Experience advising student organizations or leadership programs preferred. Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the mission and programs of LULAC. Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, student leadership, and academic success. Ability to supervise students during meetings, events, and travel.
Additional Expectations:
Must be available for after-school team meetings, and occasional weekend events. Meet regularly with the associated members during lunch, before school or afterschool as needed. Support students academically, socially, and personally. Contribute to building a positive, competitive, and sustainable football program that develops student-athletes and reflects the values of Fort Lupton High School.
