Public Health Program Specialist - Harm Reduction

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Public Health Program Specialist specializing in Harm Reduction to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through community engagement, education, and policy advocacy.
Duties:
Coordinate and oversee Harm Reduction programs and community outreach initiatives. Design and coordinate harm reduction programs that address substance use and related health issues, ensuring alignment with public health policies and community needs Conduct outreach and educational sessions on harm reduction strategies, including safe injection practices, overdose prevention, and access to resources such as naloxone distribution Collaborate with community organizations, healthcare providers, and culturally diverse populations to foster trust and facilitate program participation Collect and analyze data related to program outcomes, service utilization, and community health trends using EMR/EHR systems to inform continuous improvement Provide client-centered support through motivational interviewing techniques, health education, and clear communication tailored to individual needs Maintain up-to-date knowledge of public health law policies affecting harm reduction initiatives and advocate for supportive legislative changes Education Bachelor's degree required in Social Work, Human Services, Nursing, or Related Field Experience At least two (2) years of experience in public health, community health, healthcare, or a related field. Proven experience working within public health programs focused on harm reduction or substance use disorder prevention Strong background in community outreach, engagement with underserved populations, and working with culturally diverse communities Experience providing health education, addiction counseling, or social work services in a public health setting Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications for report writing, data collection, and program documentation Knowledge of public health law policies related to harm reduction strategies and community health initiatives Additional Information Employment may be contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening in accordance with agency policies
Pay:
$17.50 - $22.50 per hour
