Staff Development Coordinator

Job Description

Position Summary The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating educational and training programs for all facility employees. The Staff Development Coordinator ensures staff competency, compliance with Kentucky and federal regulations, orientation of new employees, continuing education, and support of quality resident care initiatives. This position works closely with department managers to promote employee development and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Employee Orientation Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation programs. Ensure all required pre-employment and onboarding documentation is completed. Provide facility-specific training to new employees. Maintain orientation records and employee training files. Education and Training Develop and implement annual education plans. Coordinate mandatory in-service training programs. Conduct training related to resident rights, abuse prevention, infection prevention, HIPAA, emergency preparedness, dementia care, and other required topics. Provide ongoing education based on identified facility needs and regulatory requirements. Assist with training related to new policies, procedures, and equipment. Competency Management Conduct and document employee competency evaluations. Coordinate skills validation for nursing and non-nursing staff. Monitor certification and licensure requirements. Maintain records of completed competencies and training. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with CMS requirements, Kentucky regulations, and facility policies regarding staff education. Maintain education records for surveys and audits. Assist with state surveys and regulatory inspections. Track mandatory annual education requirements. Quality Improvement Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Analyze training needs based on quality indicators, incident reports, and survey findings. Develop corrective action education plans when needed. Employee Support Serve as a resource for staff regarding educational opportunities and professional development. Assist department managers with performance improvement and retraining programs. Promote a culture of learning and resident-centered care. Qualifications Current Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred; LPN may be acceptable based on facility needs and state requirements. Experience in long-term care, staff education, or nursing leadership preferred.

$22.00 - $55.00 per hour
