About us: Who we are: The Intercultural Community Center's (ICC) Power School program offers a structured, well-rounded afterschool program to students grade 5-8, with a special emphasis on supporting immigrant and refugee children. In addition to offering daily homework help, the program consists of hands-on, dynamic classes in several subjects. At Power School, we use a project-based approach to education that will set students up for success in the present and future. During the summer, our program offers Power Summer, a seven week program that runs in the mornings in conjunction with Westbrook Middle School.
PART TIME POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Up to 20 hours a week during the school year and up to 30 hours a week in the summer Transport students to and from Power School (Mon-Thur) during the school year an Power Summer (Mon-Fri) during the summer, as well as off-site field trips Transport adult program students to/from ICC and their homes (as needed) Pick up snack and run errands for the youth program Manage daily routes around Westbrook through Google maps Participate in regular staff meetings Maintain the vans by taking them to regular cleanings, inspections and making sure the fuel tanks are full Help the youth team with administrative duties on days when no driving is needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates are required to bring the following to this position: Clean driving record Experience working with youth Work effectively in a team environment A smart-phone with Google Maps capacity
SCHEDULE
Estimated part time schedule is from 1:30pm-6pm during the school year (Sep - May) and 7:30am-2pm during the 7 week summer program (Jun-Aug) During the school year, the schedule is focused on afternoons and the after school time frame. In person days are required when students are on-site, staff meetings, training or as needed. Power School follows the Westbrook School Department calendar. During the summer, programming is increased and hours increase due to extended program offering to students. Typically, summer hours are switched to mornings instead of afternoons in the summer to accommodate transportation availability for students. A work from home schedule can be coordinated with the Youth Program Director on an as needed basis. Current hours include up to twenty-five hours a week during the school year and thirty-one hours during the summer program.
Legal and Ethical Duties:
Maintains confidentiality about all aspects of the youth program including but not limited to student personal information Demonstrates a respect for the legal and human rights of students, staff, and parents Follows all health and safety procedures established by the Westbrook School District and ICC Arrives and departs punctually, coordinating absences and coverage with the Youth Program Director Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards
COMPENSATION
Compensation is $20 per hour Staff are offered 10 non-paid sick days a year.
