Job Description

Position Summary

The School/Community Program Coordinator supports the district's efforts to strengthen family engagement, parent leadership, student attendance, and school-community partnerships. This coordinator plans and implements Parent University workshops, training series, educational resources, and family-learning opportunities that help parents and caregivers support their children's academic achievement and overall well-being.

The coordinator works collaboratively with the Department of Family & Community Engagement, district departments, school administrators, teachers, parent organizations, community partners, and outside presenters. The coordinator may also provide school-based operational and student-support assistance as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a combination of education, training, professional experience, and demonstrated knowledge in the following areas:

Knowledge of parenting practices, child and adolescent development, family engagement, and strategies that help caregivers support student success.

Knowledge of adult learning and experience organizing educational workshops, training programs, conferences, or professional-development activities.

Knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, academic standards, assessments, and school systems sufficient to translate educational information for parents and caregivers.

Experience developing workshop agendas, lesson outlines, presentations, facilitator materials, handouts, and participant resources.

Ability to coordinate multiple presenters, departments, community partners, schedules, locations, and program requirements.

Basic experience with video capture, audio recording, lighting, microphones, cameras, and presentation equipment.

Basic video-editing ability, including trimming footage, arranging clips, adding titles or graphics, adjusting audio, and exporting videos for online use.

Familiarity with presentation software, virtual-meeting platforms, online registration tools, spreadsheets, email-marketing systems, and web-based learning platforms.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to present information clearly to individuals with different educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and project-management skills.

Ability to maintain accurate records, monitor participation, analyze program feedback, and prepare reports.

Ability to work collaboratively with parents, educators, administrators, students, and community organizations.

Ability and willingness to attend evening and occasional weekend programs.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, family studies, social work, communications, public administration, community development, instructional design, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
