Job description •Maspeth Town Hall is a thriving community center providing a variety of services. Our largest service to the community is our After School and Summer Camp programming that we currently operate in 10 different schools throughout Queens. The majority of our Afterschool Counselors are High School Seniors and College Students. Our After School programs are growing rapidly and we are hiring on a rolling basis.

REQUIREMENTS OF AFTERSCHOOL COUNSELORS
Must be at least 17 years or older and currently enrolled as a High School Senior Successfully complete a background check Have a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID and Social Security card Available approximately 2:00 PM-5:30 PM, with a minimum of 4 days per week (Monday - Friday; our program does not operate on the weekends) Interested in working for the entire school year (longer-term commitment preferred) Please do not apply unless you meet all the requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF AFTERSCHOOL COUNSELORS
Supervise and engage youth in a safe, positive, and inclusive after-school environment. Build meaningful relationships with students while serving as a positive role model and mentor. Assist participants with homework, reading, and academic enrichment activities. Plan and lead engaging literacy, STEM, arts & crafts, sports, recreation, and social-emotional learning activities. Encourage student participation, teamwork, creativity, and positive behavior throughout the program. Monitor student safety at all times and follow all program policies and emergency procedures. Take daily attendance and maintain accurate program records. Help distribute snacks while ensuring proper health and safety procedures are followed. Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, school staff, and families as needed. Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and maintaining an organized activity space. Attend required staff meetings, professional development trainings, and orientation sessions. Support special events, field trips, and other program activities throughout the school year. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the after-school program.
