CT, NY, and MA Job Type:
Full-time About Seaboard Solar Seaboard Solar is a family-owned community solar and clean energy development company with an active project portfolio primarily in the Northeast but expanding.. We are expanding into battery energy storage system (BESS) development and are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead our storage projects from early-stage development through construction readiness and commissioning. Position Summary The BESS Project Development Manager will own the early-to-mid development lifecycle for our battery storage pipeline — from initial site identification through Notice to Proceed (NTP), defined as securing all non-ministerial permits and the utility interconnection agreement. This role does not extend into construction management; the focus is on getting projects to a fully de-risked, shovel-ready state and handing them off cleanly for the next phase. This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage multiple cross-functional workstreams (site control, permitting, interconnection, legal) while keeping projects on schedule. Key Responsibilities Lead site identification and initial feasibility screening for new BESS project opportunities (land characteristics, grid proximity, zoning fit) Manage site control efforts, including landowner outreach and coordination on site lease negotiations Drive the interconnection process from initial application through execution of the utility interconnection agreement, coordinating with engineering and legal as needed Manage the permitting process, securing all non-ministerial permits (e.g., zoning/land use approvals, wetlands, environmental, local/state discretionary permits) Track project budgets, schedules, and risk registers through the development phase; proactively flag and mitigate delays Coordinate with internal finance/tax teams on ITC safe harbor compliance and development-stage financing milestones Serve as primary point of contact with landowners, municipalities, and permitting agencies during development Prepare and manage due diligence materials and project handoff packages once NTP is achieved Report project status and development milestones to senior leadership on a regular basis Qualifications 3+ years of project development or project management experience in renewable energy or closely-related field; BESS-specific development experience strongly preferred Demonstrated experience taking projects through interconnection (ISO-NE and/or NYISO preferred) and local/state permitting processes Comfortable reviewing and negotiating commercial and land-related contracts (site leases, interconnection agreements, easements) Familiarity with zoning, land use, and environmental permitting processes at the municipal/state level Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously Bachelor's degree preferred Based in Connecticut and project sites across the Northeast This position offers a competitive salary, bonus opportunity, FULLY PAID Medical, Dental and Vision benefit and an expense account. If you are intelligent, personable, a hard worker and take pride in succeeding you will enjoy this role. If you think this sounds interesting, please send both a cover letter and resume outlining why you feel you would be a good choice for our team...otherwise we won't respond.
