Position Summary The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Senior Project Manager and Project Managers in the successful execution of construction projects primarily involving bridge repair, rehabilitation, hydrodemolition, and specialty concrete overlays. This position assists with project planning, scheduling, cost tracking, field coordination, equipment logistics, and client communication while gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of project management. The ideal candidate is organized, motivated, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and interested in developing into a Project Manager. Key Responsibilities Assist with the day-to-day management of construction projects from startup through completion. Support project scheduling and coordination of labor, equipment, and subcontractors. Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and project progress meetings. Assist with quality control and ensure work is performed according to project specifications. Help monitor project budgets, job costs, equipment utilization, production, and expenses. Prepare project documentation, reports, schedules, and submittals. Coordinate project logistics including trucking, rentals, water control, disposal, and material deliveries. Maintain communication with clients, owners, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal team members. Assist in identifying and resolving project issues before they impact schedule or budget. Gain hands-on field experience working alongside construction crews to better understand operations. Develop a working knowledge of all company equipment, materials, and construction methods. Support recruiting and onboarding efforts for CDL operators, laborers, and other field personnel. Promote and maintain a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and project execution. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Project Manager or Vice President of Construction. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, bridge rehabilitation, or commercial construction preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to read construction plans and specifications. Basic understanding of scheduling, estimating, and project cost tracking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn project management and construction accounting software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel to project sites as required. Valid driver's license required. Desired Skills Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Excellent problem-solving abilities.
