Job Summary We are seeking a self-motivated, organized and professional Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Specialist. In this role, you will be the key point of contact for clients and landlords, ensuring the smooth administration of housing assistance programs such as Section 8. Your expertise will help connect underserved and high-risk populations with safe, affordable housing options. You will manage client eligibility, conduct thorough case management, and facilitate effective communication between all stakeholders. Duties Review and verify applicant documentation to determine eligibility for housing assistance programs in compliance with HUD (Housing and Urban Development) regulations and Fair Housing laws. Conduct thorough interviews with clients to assess needs, develop personalized housing plans, and provide motivational interviewing to encourage self-sufficiency. Coordinate with landlords, property management teams, and community partners to facilitate lease agreements while ensuring adherence to landlord-tenant law. Manage case files using property management tools such as Yardi or OneSite, maintaining accurate records of client interactions, payments, and program compliance. Provide support for clients facing urgent housing or social service needs. Negotiate lease terms with landlords to promote fair housing practices and ensure client rights are protected. Stay current on HUD and Fair Housing regulations to ensure program integrity. Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to monitor progress, address barriers, and support long-term housing stability. Collaborate with social service agencies to assist clients in overcoming barriers related to housing, employment and education. Qualifications Proven experience working with individuals from underserved communities or experiencing homelessness. Strong knowledge of landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, and HUD policies related to housing assistance programs such as Section 8. Excellent client communication skills combined with motivational interviewing techniques. Ability to learn new regulations and workflows. Ability to work individually and as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to perform crisis intervention effectively in high-pressure situations. Familiarity with property management tools like Yardi or OneSite is preferred. Experience working with culturally diverse communities and supporting high-risk populations is highly desirable. Knowledge of social work principles, case management practices, and social services resources. Competency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes. Skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and crisis management are essential for success in this role. Pay:
$23.50 - $27.00 per hour
