The Municipal Public Works Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the operations of the Public Works Department. Reporting directly to the Mayor, this position oversees the maintenance, repair, and improvement of municipal infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, storm drainage systems, parks, public buildings, municipal vehicles and equipment, and other public facilities. The Supervisor ensures efficient departmental operations, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, effective use of personnel and resources, and responsive customer service to residents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report directly to the Mayor regarding departmental operations, projects, budgets, and priorities. Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of Public Works employees. Coordinate daily operations and long-range maintenance programs for municipal infrastructure and facilities. Oversee the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, parks, municipal buildings, rights-of-way, and other public assets. Supervise snow and ice removal, storm response, emergency repairs, and disaster recovery operations. Inspect completed work to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with applicable standards. Develop work schedules and prioritize projects based on community needs and available resources. Monitor department budgets, expenditures, inventory, and equipment replacement needs. Recommend capital improvement projects and assist in long-range infrastructure planning. Coordinate work performed by contractors, utility companies, engineers, and other governmental agencies. Respond to citizen concerns and service requests in a timely and professional manner. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations. Prepare reports, purchase requests, grant documentation, and other administrative records for the Mayor and governing body. Recommend departmental policies, procedures, and operational improvements. Participate in meetings of the Mayor and governing body as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Mayor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of municipal public works operations, construction, maintenance, and equipment. Knowledge of budgeting, project management, and personnel supervision. Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and environmental requirements. Ability to effectively supervise and motivate employees. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with elected officials, employees, contractors, and the public. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively during emergencies. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Five years of progressively responsible experience in public works, utilities, construction, or municipal maintenance. At least two years of supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver's license required Water License required Wastewater License required Pesticide License required Working Conditions Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments with regular exposure to varying weather conditions, construction sites, traffic, machinery, and emergency situations. The position requires participation in after-hours emergency response, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty when necessary.

From $32.00 per hour
