Purchasing Clerk Laredo College - 4.6 Laredo, TX Job Details Full-time $15.50 - $19.13 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Salary $15.50 - $19.13 Hourly Location Laredo College, Laredo, TX 78040 Job Type Full Time Job Number 00872 Division Finance and Administration Department Purchasing Opening Date 08/28/2026 Closing Date 9/11/2026 11:59 PM Central Pay Grade 204 Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities To assist the Purchasing Director in expediting and carrying out the purchasing functions in accordance with Federal, State and Local Laws and applicable College policies. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Receives, reviews, and logs purchasing requisitions. Prepare the necessary document to place the order of merchandise, supplies, or equipment requested in the purchasing requisition. Enforces the procurement laws of the State of Texas in accordance with our Board Policy and the Purchasing Manual. Assist in reviewing purchasing documents from current or prior purchasing requests. Add new vendors into the finance system after requesting and reviewing IRS W-9 information. Prepare documents to obtain quotes from vendors. Verifies debarred status with the Texas Comptroller Office and Federal Debarred website. Prepares purchase orders by imputing them into the finance database. Maintains purchase order files in an orderly manner. Corresponds and acts as the liaison between vendors and the LC Departments. Maintains a log of all Small Purchase Orders that are issued to the College District. Assist the Purchasing Director with the collection of staff and federal Work-Study timesheets. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Purchasing Director.
Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills NOTICE:

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent Two years of work experience.
Preferred:
Associate's Degree Purchasing experience in a higher education or similar agency Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Perform assignments with a high degree of accuracy and meet deadlines as required by the Purchasing Director. Have excellent working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook. Be skilled in the use of personal computers with a working knowledge of computerized purchasing systems. Be able to maintain a positive attitude towards College departments, vendors, students, and employees. Ability to work other than regular scheduled hours and at different campuses when needed. Additional Information Introductory Review Period All hires are subject to a 90 day introductory review period. Supervision Exercised The Purchasing Clerk supervises Laredo College Federal Work-Study Employees Supervision Received Reports to the Director of Purchasing Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Safety Required to work safely and follow safety rules. Special Conditions Immediate supervisor may assign other duties. May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed. May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
