Job Description

Position Summary:
Performs administrative duties associated with patient appointments such as checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and answering the phone. Maintains provider schedules and clinic flow by notifying technicians or providers when the clinic is behind.
Critical Tasks:
Schedules appointments for patients. Confirms appointments via phone and mail. Sends Did Not Keep Appointment (DNKA) letters and reschedules patient appointment. Ensures patients are scheduled with a provider in a timely manner by managing and tracking patient backlog. Ensures accessibility of appointment by scheduling transportation for patient when needed. Maintains cleanliness of front desk and waiting room. Checks in and out appointed patients. Serves as a resource for staff by performing a variety of customer service and routine administrative tasks. Maintains call log and call log notes and enters information into appropriate systems. Follows department specific scheduling guidelines. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. 1 year of scheduling, screening, or customer service experience in a healthcare clinic preferred. Previous Medicare, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), electronic health record (EHR) navigation experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
