Job Description

Part-Time Administrative and Auction Operations Assistant Do you have strong administrative skills but prefer a workday that combines seated office responsibilities with hands-on activity? This blended position may be a great fit for you. Hertel's Coins is seeking a highly reliable, organized, and detail-oriented part-time employee to support our auction, customer engagement, packaging, and administrative operations. This is a long-term, part-time opportunity with a growing company. The position combines computer-based office work with hands-on auction and package preparation, making it ideal for someone who prefers variety rather than remaining seated at a desk throughout the entire workday.

Hills, Illinois Schedule:
Monday through Friday, approximately 25-30 hours per week
Hours:
9:00 a.m. start time, generally ending between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m., depending on the daily workload
Pay:
$18-$20 per hour, based on experience Applicants must be consistently available to work until 3:00 p.m. Some workdays may end earlier once the day's assigned responsibilities are completed. Primary Responsibilities Type and prepare auction catalog descriptions Prepare and send customer engagement and follow-up messages Assist with preparing customer orders and packages for shipment Frequently staple auction materials for extended periods of time Complete data entry, recordkeeping, and general administrative tasks Organize auction materials, paperwork, and daily workflow Provide administrative and operational support to management and other departments as needed Required Qualifications Highly reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance Previous office or administrative experience Minimum accurate typing speed of 50 words per minute Typing speed and accuracy will be tested during the interview process for selected applicants Working experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Strong spelling, grammar, and written communication skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Comfortable learning new computer programs and online platforms Able to organize and manage multiple assignments Able to follow detailed instructions and complete responsibilities without repeated reminders Able to work independently while also contributing to a team Comfortable performing both computer-based and hands-on work Ability to successfully complete a job-related background check as a condition of employment Essential Job Functions and Physical Requirements This position includes substantial computer-based administrative work and hands-on auction and package preparation. The person selected must be able to consistently perform the essential duties of the position, including: Type accurately at a sustained pace for extended periods, maintaining a minimum speed of 50 words per minute Frequently staple auction materials for extended periods of time Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements Repeatedly reach forward and extend the hands and arms Grasp, sort, handle, and organize small items and packaging materials Stand for extended periods during package preparation Occasionally lift, carry, and move packages or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds Regularly transition between seated computer work and standing production work Maintain the speed, accuracy, and productivity required to complete daily auction and shipping workloads These are essential, recurring duties of the position. Experience with coins or collectibles is not required. Training will be provided. Applicants must be comfortable learning detailed procedures and working accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced small-business environment. Pay:
