SURGERY SCHEDULER

Job Description

Indiana's premier center for orthopedic care is looking for a dedicated, experienced Surgery Scheduler to join our growing team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain all appropriate scheduling records, documentation, and communicate effectively with office staff, providers, and patients. Obtain CPT and ICD-10 codes from billing department for pre-certification. Obtain and record patient demographic information on surgery sheet. Verifies active insurance, obtains pre-certification for in and outpatient surgeries Schedule peer-to-peer reviews and put forth every attempt for surgery approval. Assembles surgical packets for the doctor. This includes but is not limited to: progress notes, diagnostic testing, CD's, x-ray photos, and a schedule of patient's plan of care. Coordinate with doctor and MA to complete the surgical process for the patient. Coordinate with the surgery center and /or hospitals to confirm schedules, add-on patients and ensure all testing, pre-op labs and results are completed prior to surgery and forwarded to correct facility. Act as a liaison between patients, surgeons, office staff, hospitals and surgery centers. Complete annual education courses as required. Follow HIPAA, State, and Federal regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Computer skills required: Electronic Medical Records Software Spreadsheet Software (Excel) Word Processing Software (Word) Electronic Mail Software (Outlook) Other skills required : 1-2 years previous experience. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and coding. Excellent phone etiquette, clear verbal/written communication. Strict adherence to HIPAA policy. Strong organizational, attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
