Approximately 20-30 hours per week, with some flexibility Position Summary Range Precision Machining is seeking an experienced, organized and dependable Part-Time Temporary Machine Scheduler to help coordinate production through our CNC machining operation. This position is responsible for maintaining an accurate production schedule, reviewing job requirements, monitoring material and outside-processing needs, and communicating priorities to management and the shop floor. The successful candidate must have previous hands-on experience using JobBoss, QuickBooks and production scheduling within a CNC machining environment . This is a temporary position intended to support current scheduling and production-control needs. The length of the assignment will depend on workload and business requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create, maintain and update the daily and weekly CNC machine schedule. Schedule jobs according to customer due dates, machine availability, estimated hours, material availability, tooling requirements and outside-processing lead times. Use JobBoss to review work orders, routings, job status, estimated and actual hours, material requirements and delivery dates. Confirm that material, purchased components, tooling, inspection requirements and outside services are available before releasing jobs to production. Coordinate work across CNC mills, CNC lathes, secondary operations, inspection and outside-processing vendors. Review open orders and identify jobs that are late or at risk of becoming late. Establish and communicate daily production priorities to machinists, shop supervisors, quality personnel and management. Monitor work-in-process and update schedules when priorities, machine availability or delivery requirements change. Work with purchasing to identify material and component shortages. Track outside processes such as heat treating, anodizing, plating, grinding and other subcontracted operations. Review JobBoss information for accuracy and correct or report missing routings, estimated hours, due dates and job-status information. Compare JobBoss job and purchasing information with applicable QuickBooks records. Assist with purchase-order, vendor, customer and invoicing-related questions when required. Enter and maintain accurate production and administrative data. Prepare scheduling reports and participate in production meetings. Communicate potential delivery problems to management early enough for corrective action. Maintain confidentiality of customer, pricing, technical and controlled information. Perform other production-control and administrative duties as assigned. Must-Have Qualifications Applicants must have all of the following: Previous working experience with JobBoss manufacturing software . Previous working experience with QuickBooks , preferably QuickBooks Online. Previous scheduling, production-control or job-coordination experience in a CNC machining or precision-manufacturing environment . Working knowledge of CNC milling, CNC turning and common secondary manufacturing operations. Ability to understand job travelers, routings, setup and run times, work centers and manufacturing lead times. Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and recognize machining and outside-processing requirements. Strong computer and data-entry skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and general office software. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities. Ability to communicate clearly with machinists, inspectors, purchasing personnel, vendors and management. Ability to work independently and maintain accurate records. High attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency regarding customer due dates. Preferred Qualifications Experience scheduling a high-mix, low-volume CNC machine shop. Experience with JobBoss purchasing, inventory, work orders, job costing and scheduling functions. Experience reconciling information between JobBoss and QuickBooks. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality-management systems. Familiarity with GD&T, first-article inspection and quality-documentation requirements. Experience coordinating outside processes such as anodizing, plating, heat treating and grinding. Experience working with aerospace, defense, medical or other tightly controlled manufacturing customers. Familiarity with ITAR-controlled information and customer confidentiality requirements. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to work on-site in an active CNC manufacturing environment. Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to walk through the shop and communicate with production personnel throughout the workday. Ability to safely work around operating manufacturing equipment while following all safety requirements. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate understands that an effective machine schedule must reflect what is actually happening on the shop floor. This person will be comfortable reviewing data in JobBoss, confirming financial or purchasing information in QuickBooks, and speaking directly with machinists and supervisors to determine realistic production priorities. The candidate must be able to recognize scheduling conflicts, material shortages, overloaded work centers and jobs that are in danger of missing their delivery dates.
