Job Description

Description:
Full-time, 30-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, no holidays, no weekends, no on-call. Benefited position after 60-day waiting period.
JOB SUMMARY
Provide clerical support to the Outpatient Injection/Infusion clinical setting. Assist the Outpatient Injection/Infusion staff with administrative oversight. Maintain patient schedules, assure all prerequisites are met for treatment and serve as a resource for patients/customers. Completes prior authorizations for Infusion and Chemotherapy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
: Responsible for administrative duties within the outpatient department including: Ensure that prior authorization has been obtained for ordered treatment. Provide orders, insurance documentation, lab results and records to Medical Records. Coordinate patient care with external providers, obtain all necessary documentation for treatment from external providers and provide all necessary documentation of the care that was provided to patients/customers. Schedule patients for outpatient procedures, injections, infusions, and treatments ordered. Track ongoing requirements for patient care such as renewing insurance authorizations, collaborate with the prior authorization department, replace expired orders, and update the treatment schedule when necessary. Evaluate and recommend improvements for the overall quality and efficiency of healthcare services provided. Promote positive public relations with the patients/customers, community, and other facilities. Disseminates healthcare information to other departments/facilities as needed. Submit appropriate requisitions to ancillary department to fulfill provider orders. Maintain current knowledge of department-and hospital-wide policies and procedures. Cooperate with and supports patients/customers. Obtains prior authorizations for department in accordance with payer requirements. Identifies authorization issues and refers patients to financial counseling when appropriate. Assist with maintaining appropriate supplies.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Experience with prior authorization preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Experience with clinical setting preferred.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL MOTOR SKILLS
Ability to operate computer systems, talk in person on the telephone, hear in person and on the telephone, vision for close work, use of photocopier, fax machine, computer.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with patients, clinic staff, hospital staff, and the general public.
