Job Title Patient Access - Scheduler Report To Patient Access Supervisor Department Patient Access Salary Status Non-exempt (Hourly) Scheduling Expectations This position is full-time, 40 hours a week in our Redmond office, with possibility of some shifts in the Bend office. Candidates must be available to work shifts between 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. This position is an on-site position. This is NOT a remote role.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma (GED) Ability to pass a background check At least 1 year of office/clerical experience; preferably in health care Proficiency with computers, typing and basic software use.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Proficiently operate multi-line phone systems, including answering and transferring calls, and routing callers to appropriate voicemails when necessary.
Assist incoming callers with questions and direct inquiries to the appropriate department.
Collect patient demographic and insurance information when required for clinic registration and scheduling appointments.
Accurately transmit medication refill requests, treatment questions or other messages as needed to the appropriate staff.
Schedule patient visits into proper physician templates.
Set up automated reminder calls, emails and text messages for patients.
Collaborate with other ophthalmology optometry offices to ensure an ongoing positive working relationship.
Scan and file incoming medical records correspondence.
Prepare outgoing medical records and ensure HIPAA guidelines are being upheld.
Process incoming referrals and schedule with appropriate physician(s).
Send outgoing referrals to external providers in a timely manner.
Gather appropriate data to triage patients when needed.
Answer basic practice questions including physician names and their specialties, hours of operations, and services we do and do not provide.
Process and categorize incoming faxes to the appropriate location(s) and escalate urgent matters as needed.
Copy, scan and file miscellaneous documents as needed.
Transmit lab/pathology/imaging orders for patients.
Receive cross-training and provide coverage for other relevant patient access and administrative roles, including other departments, as established and necessary.
Required Skills and Abilities Absolutely must be able to maintain a positive attitude, even in the face of stress or disarray. Ability to manage time appropriately while working on multiple, occasionally, simultaneous tasks. Must be reliable and dependable, with minimal unexcused absences. Must adhere to Orion Eye Center's core values (see above) Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including proper grammar and spelling.
