Job Description

Project SHARE is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our team as a Programs & Operations Associate. Position Overview Project SHARE is a nonprofit food pantry serving more than 1,000 families each month and rooted in the vision of "Nourishing Our Community…Awakening Hope!" Since 1985, we have been committed to reducing food insecurity in the greater Carlisle area by providing access to nutritious food, programs, and community resources. The Programs & Operations Associate is a hands-on, cross-functional position that supports the day-to-day delivery of programs and operations across Project SHARE. This position works in a variety of areas, including our warehouse, Your Choice Pantry, Farmstand, nutrition programs, and seasonal initiatives—to help ensure our programs are prepared, organized, and ready to serve our neighbors effectively. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, likes being active, works well with others, and is comfortable moving between different responsibilities and work environments. The position combines regularly scheduled responsibilities with opportunities to provide cross-functional support and coverage across the organization. Key Responsibilities Warehouse, Logistics & Operations Assist with receiving, loading, unloading, organizing, and transporting food and other products. Complete food pickups, deliveries, compost runs, and other transportation using Project SHARE vehicles. Support Home Delivery through packing and designated distribution and delivery responsibilities. Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment following appropriate training. Assist with seasonal grounds, facility, and operational projects. Farmstand & Gleaning Provide logistical and operational support to the Farmstand, including transporting food and products between Project SHARE locations. Work collaboratively with the Farmstand Coordinator to support program and operational needs. Become cross-trained in Farmstand operations to provide short-term coverage when needed. Participate in seasonal gleaning activities, including harvesting, unloading, inventorying, storing, and transporting recovered produce. Your Choice Pantry & Food Distribution Assist with preparation and setup for pantry distributions, including stocking and organizing food for client shopping. Support client intake and other distribution processes. Become cross-trained in pantry operations and provide shift support or coverage when needed. Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and dignified client-choice environment. Nutrition & Seasonal Programs Support Summer Feeding distributions and volunteer packing activities. Assist with cooking classes, including purchasing and organizing supplies, setup, program support, and cleanup. Provide administrative and data-entry support for nutrition programming and SHARE the Health Boxes. Assist with other scheduled nutrition and seasonal program needs. Cross-Functional Support Become cross-trained in essential functions across multiple Project SHARE programs. Provide trained backup coverage during staff vacations, trainings, and other short-term absences. Assist with seasonal needs, special projects, and changing organizational priorities. Work collaboratively across departments to support efficient and effective program delivery. Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Ability to work across multiple program areas while following established priorities and procedures. Strong attention to organization, cleanliness, food safety, and operational efficiency. Willingness to learn multiple aspects of Project SHARE's programs and operations. Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Minimum of two years of relevant work experience. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; must be able to safely operate Project SHARE vehicles. General maintenance knowledge and experience are desirable. Forklift certification is desirable; training provided. ServSafe Certification for Food Pantries desirable; training provided. Ability to successfully complete Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances. Requirements & Work Environment This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. This position is required to support one evening and one Saturday pantry shift each month. Work is performed across Project SHARE facilities, including our headquarters, warehouse, Your Choice Pantry, Farmstand, outdoor gleaning locations, and other community settings. This is a physically active position involving regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading. Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. This role routinely uses warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and light/medium-duty vehicles, and may include work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Pay:
$42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
