Director of Operations and Engineering FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Position Summary The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining an executable production plan that aligns customer demand and forecast requirements with material availability, production capacity, and labor resources. This position serves as the central link between customer demand, supply chain, and shop-floor execution, working closely with Customer Service, Purchasing, Production, Sales, and Operations to establish priorities, identify constraints, and support on-time delivery. The Production Planner / Scheduler will also serve as the operational champion for Infor SyteLine planning and MRP processes, supporting continued improvement of planning processes, data accuracy, and system utilization across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for Hankscraft and Hankscraft Runxin based on customer orders, forecasts, material availability, capacity, and labor requirements. Establish production priorities and sequencing and adjust the plan as requirements and conditions change.
Capacity and Constraint Planning:
Evaluate capacity, labor, material availability, and other operational constraints. Identify current and upcoming constraints that may impact production or customer delivery and coordinate appropriate actions with Operations, Production, and Purchasing.
Production Coordination:
Work closely with Production Supervisors to monitor production progress, schedule attainment, and changing shop-floor conditions. Adjust production priorities and schedules based on actual performance and upcoming requirements.
Material and Purchasing Alignment:
Work closely with Purchasing to identify material requirements, shortages, and delivery timing that may impact the production schedule. Communicate required material dates and escalate material-related risks affecting production or customer delivery.
Sales and Customer Service Coordination:
Provide Sales and Customer Service visibility to production status, lead times, schedule changes, and potential delivery risks. Evaluate priority and rush-order requests against available material, capacity, and existing commitments.
Schedule Maintenance & Exception Resolution:
Proactively identify orders at risk of missing planned completion or customer delivery requirements. Investigate schedule exceptions, coordinate corrective actions with responsible functions, and adjust priorities when necessary.
Syteline/MRP Process Champion:
Serve as the operational champion for continued implementation and effective use of Infor SyteLine planning and MRP processes. Use available system information to support production planning and identify material and scheduling exceptions. Identify system data issues affecting planning results, coordinate corrections with responsible functions, and support continued improvement of SyteLine planning processes as organizational use matures
Production Planning & Performance Reporting:
Monitor and communicate key planning and scheduling metrics, including schedule attainment, past-due production, material constraints, capacity concerns, and orders at risk. Provide Operations regular visibility to issues requiring action or escalation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Production Planning & Scheduling:
Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling principles and working knowledge of ERP/MRP concepts. Experience with Infor SyteLine is preferred but not required.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to analyze production, material, and scheduling information, identify constraints and exceptions, assess impacts, and develop practical solutions.
Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination:
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, and Operations.
Decision-Making & Prioritization:
Ability to prioritize effectively and make sound scheduling decisions when faced with competing requirements, material shortages, capacity constraints, and changing production conditions. Data Accuracy & Attention to
Detail:
Strong attention to detail and understanding of the importance of accurate ERP and planning data. Ability to identify and support improvements to production planning, scheduling, and ERP/MRP processes.
Computer Skills:
Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and the ability to effectively work within ERP/MRP and other manufacturing systems.
Experience & Education:
Experience:
2+ years of experience in production planning, production scheduling, material planning, inventory control, or a related manufacturing operations role preferred. Experience in a small-to-midsize manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
ERP / MRP
Experience:
Practical experience working with an ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Experience with Infor SyteLine is a plus but is not required.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Relevant manufacturing, production planning, or ERP/MRP experience may substitute for formal education.

Experience:
Production planning: 2 years (Preferred) Ability to
