Shipping ClerkPosition Summary The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outgoing shipments to ensure customer orders are accurate, properly documented, and shipped on time. This position works closely with warehouse personnel, drivers, carriers, customer service, and other departments to support efficient shipping operations while delivering excellent internal and external customer service. Key Responsibilities Process customer orders accurately and efficiently for shipment. Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, shipping labels, manifests, and related paperwork. Verify order accuracy by confirming product quantities, item numbers, and shipping destinations before shipment. Coordinate daily shipping schedules with warehouse personnel, drivers, and transportation carriers. Communicate shipment status and resolve delivery issues with customers, carriers, and internal departments. Maintain accurate shipping records and enter data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Track shipments and provide timely updates to customers and management. Assist in resolving shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, returns, and customer concerns. Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and workplace safety procedures. Maintain an organized shipping office, filing system, and shipping documentation. Assist with inventory verification, cycle counts, and inventory-related activities as needed. Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Preferred One to three years of experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics, or a related field. Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, or shipping software. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures. Understanding of transportation documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing workloads. Basic mathematical, computer, and keyboarding skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to work in both office and warehouse environments with varying temperatures. Frequent use of computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment.
