Position Summary:
Shift 2 (3:00pm-11:30pm) Monday - Friday The Pharmacy Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely packaging and shipment of medications to patients, facilities, or healthcare providers. This role also oversees the inventory and replenishment of all shipping-related supplies to ensure smooth and compliant daily operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and package medications for shipment according to pharmacy protocols and applicable regulations (e.g., temperature control, tamper-evident packaging). Print and affix shipping labels accurately; verify correct delivery addresses and carrier information. Coordinate daily pickups with shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, courier services). Monitor and track outgoing shipments to ensure timely delivery; escalate delays or issues as needed. Maintain accurate records of all shipped orders in pharmacy systems. Perform quality checks to ensure all packages meet pharmacy and regulatory standards. Manage inventory levels of shipping materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, ice packs, insulated coolers, and labels. Order and restock shipping supplies proactively to prevent delays in medication fulfillment. Organize the shipping area to maintain cleanliness, safety, and workflow efficiency. Communicate with the pharmacy team regarding any issues with packaging, inventory shortages, or delayed shipments. Follow all HIPAA, USP, and internal compliance standards. Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse role; pharmacy experience preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet shipping deadlines. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, shipping software, pharmacy systems). Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Work Environment:
Pharmacy or warehouse setting. Frequent interaction with packaging materials, medications, and shipping supplies. May require occasional weekend or evening hours depending on operational needs.
